Cartwright Not Optimistic About Returning to Skins

The Redskins have also extended an initial contract offer to potential free agent punter Derrick Frost, league sources said, but another prominent special teams player, return man Rock Cartwright, has yet to be contacted by the team, he said. Cartwright is not optimistic about remaining in Washington, and is seeking a deal worth at least $2 million guaranteed, sources said.

I saw this small tidbit in Jason La Canfora's blog and it kind of upset me. Rock has been one of my favorite Skins for years. Not that I think the Skins should pony up to re-sign him or anything if he's asking too much, but he's one of those guys that I see as a "True" Redskin and I always loved watching him make big special teams plays.

Yet another inexplicable decision by the Redskins front office.
At least talk to the man.

Whew. Now I can get that Cartwright jersey I've always wanted.

Vinny Cerrato, executive vice president of football operations, called to say that the team reached an agreement with Rock.
Terms were not released, but a team source said Rock received a three-year, $3.35-million deal that includes $500,000 in guaranteed money.

Good to see that Rock will remain a Skin, tremendous special teams player.
