Orioles History DVDs
I have been debating on whether or not to grab the Orioles World Series highlight discs but I was wondering if anyone else had any other suggestions or if they recommend this set.

The Orioles DVD'S are great but.....
Remember..these are the only videos that were recorded or filmed for posterity of the championship teams..but if you are really hard core..like I am..I suggest you google and contact a company called "rare sports films". Its out of Chicago. This guy has some great old Oriole stuff..including a raw(every pitch and commercial)broadcast of a game against the Tigers in 1971..and a documentary about the Orioles that goes back 47 years ago!I love this stuff..also Orioles classics on MASN has the 70 World Series on video..not film..that is much clearer and more fun to watch....Curt Gowdy does the play by play....

Yes, I realize that the DVDs in question are highlights. But you have given me some great pointers to follow. I am truly looking for the "hardcore" stuff. I would give my left arm for a complete recording of the set of Orioles' World Series appearances.
Thank you sir

They used to have videotapes for each one of the WS. Not sure exactly how much was on each one, it's been a while since I looked at mine, and now the VCR is in down in the garage. My hunch is that the DVD is just a compressed highlight thing, rather than an inning-by-inning thing, but I don't really know.

This DVD is fine. It's just the same stuff that they used to sell on VHS.
I still want a copy of the Final Weekend at Memorial Stadium tape the Orioles made a few years ago. If anyone has a copy of that I could trade them for a copy of "Why Not?" on DVD or any of the other Orioles stuff I have (original broadcast of the last opening day at Memorial Stadium, the TBTC game in 1991 vs. the Twins, the first game at Camden Yards against the Mets in 1992).

I have a copy of the Final Weekend, but man...it's kind of tough to give up that, because I have a lot of the older tapes...the 92 season, 93 season, Why Not, Memorial Stadium history. I'd be interested in the last broadcast of last opening day. But what is the TBTC? I will think about it and let you know.
On a related note, for anyone, does anyone remember the Orioles used to put out highlight videos of each season back in the 80's? I think they called them Video Yearbooks, but it was just in the 80's...does anyone remember these?

Yeah, I remember the video yearbooks. They used to run them on HTS during rain delays. I taped a couple of them. I just need to find them again.
TBTC = Turn back the clock. It was June 19th, 1991 against the Twins. The Orioles wore 1966 uniforms. Olson blew it bad in the 9th, but it was still a fun game.
I know this is kind of a leap of faith, but I would be willing to just make copies and send you back your master tapes. I wouldn't expect you to give up anything. Those old Orioles tapes don't have copy protection like newer tapes do. I'd just dub them onto DVD and send them right back.
I wouldn't deny an Orioles fan any of that old stuff. And for the trouble I'd send you back copies of any of my stuff that you wanted.
It's not any trouble for me to make copies. You'd have your stuff back in a week.

I was going through some old tapes and found something I didn't know I had.
I have the original broadcast of the 1993 All Star Festivities, which included the HR Derby with Griffey hitting the warehouse and the Upper Deck Heroes of Baseball with Reggie Jackson hitting a homerun.
I also have the original CBS broadcast of the 1993 All Star Game, with Mussina warming up in the bullpen as the boos came down as Cito Gaston let Duane Ward close the game fot the AL.Last edited by IHeartMASN; 03-05-2008 at 11:35 PM.

This is another guy who sells some vintage audio & video.
I've purchased from him before, so I can vouch that he's reliable. In fact, I'm putting together another order with him right now.
