Yea, I'm watching it. Just not happy about Kurt speeding leaving the pits and being a lapped down. Although it's certainly better than what happened to Tony.

Gordon's crash made me and my mom's boyfriend jump and scream lol. Another win for Cousin Carl though.

The story that no one is talking about out of this race is the unsponsored #28 running 8th. For Travis Kvapil to finish with a top ten run is remarkable. Kudos to those guys.

The better story is the open-wheel guys continue to fail miserably (Hornish Jr., Franchitti, Carpentier). Not a big NASCAR fan, but I like open wheel racing, and I hate it when these guys jump ship.

Can't blame these guys really. They've accomplished so much in open wheel, they see this as such a challenge. Montoya's success last year certainly didn't guarantee the same success for the others. Hornish just has no clue out there right now. He's actually a danger to the other guys. Dario has the right idea, he just drops to the back and stays out of everyone's way while gaining experience. In a few weeks, all three of the ones you mentioned will be forced to qualify on time, and none will in my opinion. Two open wheelers have already been let go from their teams (Allmendinger and Villeneuve).

To be honest, I've just a got a thing against NASCAR. Not necessarily the sport itself, just what it's turned into. When I was a kid I would actually follow it with my Dad, who's been a fan from the get go. But they've sold out a large part of their identity to try to gain new markets and in doing so have alienated a lot of their fan base (such as my Dad), IMO.

And don't even get me started on restrictor plate racing.

How is the COT working out so far? This is one of my Dad's biggest beefs, by the way. He's of the school of thought that how you set the car up is just as interesting as the race itself. The COT takes a lot of that away. I'm certainly no expert, but from what I've seen it looks like whichever car gets the suspension set up correctly cruises away from everyone else.

A lot of the long time fans don't like what the sport has become, and I can understand. However, the competition is as good as it's been in a while, and is actually getting better with the new car. The racing at Daytona and Vegas was pretty damn good. I expect more of the same in Atlanta this weekend.

If you have time, watch the race this weekend and let me know what you think.
