Doc Shorebird's Spring Training Report, 3/19
In his fifth report from Orioles' minor league spring training, Doc Shorebird gives us his sleeper of the spring. In their first professional spring training, how are some of the O's 2007 draft picks faring? The good doctor also sheds some light on how Delmarva's roster appears to be shaping up.

Great report, Doc.
Any word on where Adams starts? I'm hoping DelMarva, but it's been hinted here that he might be at Aberdeen.
Nice to hear about Beato.

We'll know where he starts about March 29, but I "hinted" where I thought he would start in my report
A very good infield.

Here's hoping Ryan Adams has a breakout year and rewards Hoosier's faith in him.

I'll be disappointed if he can't start at Delmarva. It looks like the 2B job there is wide open.
1B Mahoney
2B Adams
SS Florimon
3B Henson
C Wolff ? (I thought Dustin Black might take this job)
LF Pope
CF Angle (probably only because Danny Fig gets the job at Frederick)
RF ???
DH Anthony Martinez (could get an OF corner as well)
It looks like Wally Crancer is being tried at catcher. I could see him as a corner OF or even as a starting or backup catcher, depending how the experiment goes. Tyler Kolodny has an outside shot of making the team but I would think it would require a position change. A guy like Nowicki will probably find some time in the OF as well. Hopefully Kieron Pope has a good spring and make the team. If he doesn't make a full season league this year, then I think I'd just about give up on the guy for good.Last edited by RZNJ; 03-20-2008 at 11:55 AM.

Doc as always, another great read! Good to hear that Ryan Adams, someone I criticized a little last year is faring much better this year. Hopefully he will have a nice bounce back year.
BTW, your blogs along with March Madness get me pumped up that Opening Day is just a few weeks away!

I've read the reports and have noticed Angle playing with the "AA" team along with Weiters.
How has he looked? Been able to handle his own? Have saw where Doc believes if he keeps hitting how he has he won't be in Delmarva for long. I'm assuming its a given that he wil start there and not Frederick?
I'm sure his glove and fielding, baserunning, plate discipline are Bowie ready, however his bat and lack of power has been documented and I figure that is what is holding him back and starting at Delmarva?

Very happy to hear about Ryan Adams, it was a bit hard to swallow that Joe Jordan had whiffed that badly on a 2nd rounder. Hopefully this year he'll prove Jordan knoew what he was doing.

He has been doing very well. He has learned a lot in many ways since his Delmarva days.
