According to Spencer Fordin / MLB.com on the Orioles Home Page, the likelihood of Alex Cintron replacing Luis Hernandez is "extremely good."

So then Fahey would be staying??![]()
You forgot to mention the caveat "providing [Cintron] starts hitting" at Norfolk.
Fordin also mentions Freddie Bynum as an alternative.
So this sounds like more of the usual speculation rather than something imminent, IMO.
You also forgot to mention the caveat that this is an article written on Orioles.com by Spence Fordin
What I'd give to hear we dealt for one of Lillibridge and Hu...
Is Cintron that much better than LH? I would much rather keep LH this year and then next season get a SS in a deal.
We really need to be trading for Jack Wilson. Better fielder and light years better as a hitter.
"I never saw anyone like Ty Cobb. No one even close to him. He was the greatest all time ballplayer. That guy was superhuman, amazing." - Casey Stengel
"I knew every pitch he was going to throw and still I couldn't hit him." (About Sandy Koufax tipping his pitches)
— Willie Mays
Well Ty you may have a good point. But what would the O's ahve to give up to get him.
Cintron and Bynum make LH and BF expendable. Release Fahey, send LF down to Norfolk.
Exactly who is Spencer Fordin, and why should we listen to him?
I know zip about the guy, but my BS-alarm goes off when:Is there any reason to think this guy knows what he's talking about?
- DT is on record as saying he wants good-D at SS, and whatever hitting he gets there is just a bonus.
- Spencer Fordin mainly talked about SS hitting stats.
Or is it just another internet opinion?
"Baseball statistics are always trying to mislead you, and it is a constant battle not to be misled by them." (Bill James)
"Now, how the [bleep] am I supposed to hit that?" (Mickey Mantle in the batters box, talking to Sandy Koufax's catcher)
I think that Bynum ends up with a bigger role in the Orioles SS job than Cintron by either one of two ways.
1. Bynum comes back from his injury and is given the shot (By Trembley and AM) with the big league team.
or
2. Bynum starts out in the minors after his injury (which is most likely) and he outplays Cintron and gets the call-up.
In any event, this is just mere speculation on orioles.com, I wouldn't put any weight in it, as the others before me have said.
