So to summarize, Flacco has NOT been eaten alive by the speed of the NFL, he typically remains upright long enough to throw the ball 5 yards (and in many cases more), and is CLEARLY better than Boller, Luke Scott didn't set the world on fire but was still a significant contributor to the O's lineup, and Brandon Fahey's out of baseball while Jerry Hairston is preparing to play in the ALCS.

Did I get that right? Can't win 'em all, OldFan, but that's the Epic Fail Trifecta right there. You are a good sport, though and (much like Sports Guy & JTrea81 and their critics) I don't think you get enough recognition for that.

I would like to say to OldFan that nothing personal was meant by bumping the thread. It really was in good fun. I just happened to be looking through old threads and came across this one. With so many outlandishly bad takes, I was bumping this no matter who it was making the posts.

I sure hope he hasn't. I would take Drew Olson or Cullen Finnerty any day of the week over Flacco. Heck, I would take Anthony Wright!

Old#5Fan recanted about his Flacco statements after he and I had a discussion about which games he saw. I went to the University of Delaware and watched most of the games. O5F saw the last regular season game of 2007, when Joe had his worst game of the year against Villanova. He more then made up for it with his performances against Delaware State, Southern Illinois, and Northern Iowa in the post-season before being crushed by the defense of Appalachian State in the Championship Game.

My track record on judging NFL QB's is my best work. I have never been wrong in that regard. I always said Boller would not even be as good a player as Chris Redman and many folks, similar to you took me to task. Yet, Redman has better stats than Boller and will continue to prove me right. I know Boller was a dud the minute I saw him in pre-season with his erratic shot put style of throwing and awkward movements while dropping back. Nuff said.

Ryan at number one is a no brainer, but Flacco will be worse as an NFL QB than Boller! Mark my words! The guy looked like a lumbering sloth against small school D-I teams. As much as I literally cannot stand Boller as a player I would even take Boller over Flacco! Flacco is the opposite of happy foot Boller he is more like cement shoes!

I agree though, Brohm and Henne impress me much more than Flacco.

I'm not going to claim to be an expert, but I've seen Flacco play a few times since we both attend CAA schools, and I haven't been overly impressed. He's a big guy with a rocket arm, but he's also awkward and moves slow. Maybe they all like his longterm potential, but as of now, he doesn't do much to impress me.

I was wrong about Scott adjusting to the AL and freely (and happily admit it). However, you overlook the fact that I was and am right about him not being a power hitter. I predicted 14 homers as opposed to some who were out there on this forum predicting 40 or more! My prediction is going to be closer to any of those who were making fun of me for it, including Drungo, whom I do respect.

Fahey is a better player than the hotdog Hairston, who is all fluff and no stuff. If you don't know what that means, it explains why you think Hairston is better.

Unless Tejada gets injured there is no way on this planet that Luke Scott will hit more homers this season than Tejada. No way, no how. He probably will hit more doubles though, but that is not the same as homers. Doubles are not the sign of a power hitter like some were proclaiming Scott (incorrectly) to be based on a very small sample size from last year in limited at bats where he hit 18 homers, a total abberation. Brian Roberts hits a lot of doubles and is certainly not a power hitter. Scott is just a pure hitter. He is not going to come close to matching Tejada though in home runs. Not now, not ever! I do like his hitting tremendously though. However, the point I am making here is his prior statistics are utterly meaningless at predicting his home run totals in the future. Scott isn't any more of a home run hitter than Millar or Huff. You can tell that by merely watching him hit.

Scott hit 23 homers to Tejada's 13.

We aren't going to trade down anyway because i think Ryan is falling to us.
