Need help on trade proposal (fantasy bball)

So. I have a ton of closers (always a key thing to get on draft day - solid closers you can throw on the trade block for whatever you need). But I need another power bat. Here's the offer I received:

    Ryan Howard for BJ Ryan.

I'm probably saying yes, but that's a gamble on both ends:
    a) I hold onto Ryan and he goes down with another injury. (he already is not pitching back to back days)
    b) I get Howard and he doesn't bounce back, and I have a bum on my bunch instead of a solid power hitter I might be able to get from someone else. Also, my three solid now/maybe shakey later closers might falter.

So, my question to you all is should I do it? (BTW - this is a mixed AL and NL league.) Below is my roster (ps - I also have a waiver claim on Mark Teixeira for Swisher, but I'm 10th out of 12 for waiver claims - unlikely):

    C - Ryan Doumit
    1b - Adrian Gonzalez
    2b - BJ Upton
    3b - Kevin Kouzmanoff
    ss - Hanley Ramirez
    of - Nick Markakis
    of - Corey Hart
    of - Josh Hamilton
    uti - Joey Votto
    bench - Nick Swisher

    sp - CC Sabathia
    sp - Ben Sheets
    sp - Chad Billingsley
    sp - Brett Myers
    sp - Roy Oswalt
    sp - Mark Buehrle
    rp - Jon Papelbon
    rp - BJ Ryan
    rp - CJ Wilson
    rp - Brian Wilson
    rp - Brandon Lyon

    There is a fantasy forum:
    http://www.forum.orioleshangout.com/...splay.php?f=33

I know not much about fantasy but the people that frequent that may be able to help you more.

For the record, I would do Howard for Ryan because I dont think Ryan will have to many save chances in the future. The Jays are falling apart and their offense is squandering. Howard will turn around. You cant be that good and hit a wall at 27 or whatever his age is.

That's what I'm thinking. Just needed to make sure.

(And crap! I knew there was one but must not have seen the forum on quick glance)

You accept this deal, and if you don't accept this deal you enter yourself into an asylum. And after you accept it, you pray the other owners are asleep at the wheel and don't notice it, because it'll be vetoed in a heartbeat.

And you also suggest to the person offering you the deal that he enter himself into an asylum. Even if Howard doesn't bounce back, which he assuredly will, he's still worth way more than a closer who will most likely spend more time on the DL. He won't pick up every possible save and if he did, he would undoubtedly get hurt again. BJ Ryan is nowhere near the top of the closer list in terms of value, and Ryan Howard has hit 105 homers over the last two seasons.

If you do not accept this trade I will probably go crazy and have to enter myself into an asylum.

It depends on if you get Tex on your waiver claim. Having him and A. Gonzalez already means you really don't have a need for Howard, and you should trade Ryan for a SP. Your team is stacked, and being that deep and the fact that someone waived Tex at all, tells me its a pretty soft league, so I think it would pass. Wait to see if you get Tex before you pull the trigger, if you don't then yes, you definitely make the deal, Howard had a bad start through May last year too and look how that ended up.

No no no no that isn't a factor. He won't get Tex, but then again, if someone in the league was knee-jerkish enough to drop Tex you never know. If he did get Tex, good, get Howard too. And then you trade again. Value matters more than need in a case as extreme as this. You're not gonna get a proposal as foolish as BJ Ryan for Ryan Howard very often, and I guarantee that no one else in that league would be dumb enough to take BJ in exchange for anyone of value.

You accept the trade and then trade Tex or AGon or Howard for a SP.

True, you could do that. There could also be better closer options in the waiver pool to what you have with Ryan now though, it just sounds to me that the league is a little weak, and you should take advantage. Do the trade, and like Melmo said, if you have to, trade one of them for a top SP, if not, stash the extra one on your bench and keep him away from the rest of the league.

Haha, I wish. It's a "competitive" yahoo league. I'm just brushing up my skills again to get into a local, money league next year.

I guess I was just stunned by this offer. I accepted it, just hope it doesn't get vetoed.

Someone released CJ Wilson earlier this year and I was able to claim him. But I base that more on the fact nobody even knew him. I doubt Teixeira falls.

The fact that I'm in 3rd place in a head to head league with the slumps of my hitters and starting pitchers means I can't wait to kick everyone's ass if my SP's wake up and Howard and Hart, and, if I get him, Teixeira start nailing the ball like last year.

Yeah I know what you mean. I'm in a bunch of really competitive leagues but I have this one Yahoo league that is a total joke. I think I have Bedard, Haren, Webb, and Volquez, 5 closers, and a stacked offense in that one. It's not even close.

Trade went through. Howard's heating up. Didn't get Teixeira unfortunately.
