    Hey, thats *insert name here*

I'm not sure if it was pruned, or if it was even this board, but there was a thread about seeing an actor in an early role in retrospect and going "hey, look who it is!" Obvious ones are seeing Samuel L. Jackson as the fast food robber in Coming to America, Damon Wayans as the guy who gives Axel the bananas in Beverly Hills Cop, and Chris Rock as the valet at the Playboy Mansion on Beverly Hills Cop II.

But recently, I had a double dose of that...was watching Galaxy Quest and realized that the NBC Thursday night line up was well represented...two of the Thermian (main aliens) are Rainn Wilson from The Office and the guy who plays Ted on Scrubs.

Then...later that night, the original live action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles came on, and sorry, it's a guilty pleasure. Halfway through I realize that the "head teen thug" guy is Sam Rockwell, who of course, I had just seen while watching Galaxy Quest.

    Other ones:
Neil Flynn, otherwise known as the Janitor from Scrubs, was obviously in The Fugitive if you watch Scrubs (it was part of an episode, saying the Janitor used to be an actor). But have you noticed him in Major League? He's one of the construction workers that talks about the team throughout the movie (I think he's the only one that actually talks (Hey, these guys aren't so effin bad.), and at the end, he's the guy who hugs the punker, pulls back, then goes back to hugging).

Also in Beverly Hills Cop 2...the gun runner guy, Thermopolis...Paul Guilfoyle, aka Brass from CSI.

I've got tons of these, but then I'd pretty much kill the thread then. What you guys got?

I saw this old, weird video in European History three years ago about the Peasant Revolt in England. I believe John Ball was played by a young Anthony Hopkins, which was really bizarre.

OK, google has shown that my memory was off. We did watch a movie about the Peasant Revolt, but the one with Anthony Hopkins was The Lion in Winter and is about Henry II/Eleanor of Aquitane in the 12th century. Hopkins played Richard the Lionheart in a fairly minor role.

One of my best skills when watching TV/movies is noticing a random bit actor/actress and then telling my friends what else they've been in and having them go, "Oh man, I never would've put that together."

Most recent example was from Weeds last week. The female Real Estate agent that Lenny ends up using to sell Bubbie's house is also Dee and Dennis' Mom from Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
"Its 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses. Hit it."

The last time I watched Apocolypse Now I saw that Lawrence Fishburne was one of the very young soldiers. He must have been in his teens.

If I remember correctly, he was, and lied about his age to the casting people even.

In the "Junior Mint" episode of Seinfeld, Elaine's artist boyfriend who's going in for surgery = same guy who played Bub, the sentient zombie in George Romero's Day of the Dead.

Don't ask why I know this.

My sister was flipping through the channels the other night, and came across Jurassic Park; a movie that, because I have watched it a hundred times over the years, I know she has watched it many times as well.

I hear her shout, "I didn't know he was in this movie!" I look over, and it's one of the scenes with Samuel L. Jackson. I was stunned that she had never realized that.

I'm disappointed I can't come up with more, because I love this type of stuff. But the only thing that is coming to me right now is Jon Favreau as the Clown in the episode of Seinfeld where George pushes children and a grandma out of the way to evacuate the house. I know I'm going to think of more 2 seconds before I fall asleep tonight.

Another good one...the centerfielder, Ben Williams, in Angels in the Outfield. In one of his early movies (though already after one of his most-famous roles).

This doesn't really count I don't think...but it wasn't until the second time I watched Freedom Writers that I noticed that Robert Wisdom a.k.a. Howard "Bunny" Colvin played the school superintendent.

I just realized the other day that the guy that played "Squints" in the Sandlot is also the guy that played bully Alan White in Freaks and Geeks.

I can't really think of anymore...I don't know...Eriq La Salle was also in Coming To America. Michael Imperioli also had a bunch of small parts before making it big in The Sopranos...Goodfellas, Jungle Fever, The Basketball Diaries, Dead Presidents, etc.
