    Bump!

Just letting everyone know that the best band currently on Earth is returning to the 930 Club on Thursday September 1. That's the Thursday before Labor Day.

So, I'll be seeing them, taking Friday-Tuesday off and going to MD/Miami on Labor Day Monday. Not a bad little weekend, eh?

I found this out on my own, it's because Edina High School (where Holly apparently "attends" school)'s mascot is the Hornets. And I guess they're making it sound like cheerleaders cheering at a football game?

Now THIS is a band. It took me the longest time to get into them, but man once you get them you just GET them. They almost always avoid using conventional rock/pop chord progressions, key signatures or song structures yet somehow they manage to be incredibly catchy and anthemic, and of course their lyrics are the best in the biz. Man, just can't say enough about them.

I really need to edit their album Heaven is Whenever into my best of 2010 list. This is the album that got me into them and now I am addicted. Recently picked up Stay Positive and it's great as well. I am looking forward to picking up the rest of their discography and would like to thank The Hold Steady for having the balls to go against "indie" trends and just making some original and flat-out amazing music.

Lol if you've only heard "Heaven" and "Positive" then you haven't even heard their best two records. Go get "Boys and Girls in America" and "Separation Sunday" and thank me later.

Just wanted to bump this thread to say that these guys are becoming one of my favorite bands of all-time. I've been checking out more and more of their discography lately and it's been quite a ride. I've been on a huge Hold Steady binge for the last two or three months, listening to them almost every day. Kudos to the great people on OH music section who introduced me to this incredible band.

Haven't read through this thread, but do you guys also like Lifter Puller (predecessor to Hold Steady)? Really good stuff. The common thread with both bands is Craig's awesome storytelling. I prefer Lifter Puller musically - more punk/new wave sounding rather than rock'n'roll. But both are really good.

Lifter Puller is OK, but they don't hold a candle to THS IMO.
