I was going to post some Big Star and/or Flying Burrito Brothers, but the cover of 'The Dark End of the Street' took me in a completely different direction.

The Belafonte reminds me of Johnny Mathis.

Just to dot I's and cross T's....
We must make BOOGIE MUSIC the essential factor in the life LAW. In presenting this song to the world, we must then explain and justify our prediction by formulating a definition of BOOGIE MUSIC and setting forth it's main principles in such a way... that ALL may understand instantly that their souls, their lives, and every relation with every other human being in EVERY circumstance depends on BOOGIE MUSIC, and the right comprehension, and the right application thereof.

I don't know that Canned Heat was such a shroom band... more of a weed and acid band as I see it...
Allmans seemed more shroomy to me...
Last Sunday morning, the sunshine felt like rain.
Week before, they all seemed the same.
With the help of God and true friends, I come to realize
I still had two strong legs, and even wings to fly.
And oh I, ain't wastin time no more
'Cause time rolls by like hurricanes, and faster things.
Lord, lord Miss Sally, why all your cryin'?
Been around here three long days, you're lookin' like you're dyin'.
Just step yourself outside, and look up at the stars above
Go on downtown baby, find somebody to love.
Meanwhile I ain't wastin' time no more
'Cause time goes by like pouring rain, and much faster things.
You don't need no gypsy to tell you why
You can't let one precious day slip by.
Look inside yourself, and if you don't see what you want,
Maybe sometimes then you don't,
But leave your mind alone and just get high.
Well by and by, way after many years have gone,
And all the war freaks die off, leavin' us alone.
We'll raise our children in the peaceful way we can,
It's up to you and me brother
To try and try again.
Well, hear us now, we ain't wastin' time no more
'Cause time goes by like hurricanes
Runnin' after subway trains
Don't forget the pouring rain.

Ridin down the river in an old canoe
a bunch of bugs and an old tennis shoe
out of the river all ugly and green
the biggest old alligator that I've ever seen
teeth big and pointed and his eyes were buggin out
contact the union, put the beggars to route
screamin and yellin and lickin his chops
he never runs he just stumbles and hops
just out of prison on six dollars bail
mumblin at *****es and waggin his tail

As is often the case... a joke of mine on the main page leads me to post better stuff here.
