I don't believe they are related, but something in the intro to Rory G's song made me think of Malkmus who I personally think is a musical genius. You may know him from Pavement fame, The Jicks are less known I have found from just talking to people.

Man! I WISH I could play like either! Acoustic is so much harder to play than electric. Every flaw, every mistake is multiplied on an acoustic. Electrics seem to divide in all your mistakes. Just make 'em all sound groovy...

I have a CD, a collection of slide guitar blues called "Bottles, Knives and Steel - The Best of Slide Guitar". Bottles for sure. Steel too. I always thought knives was a stretch... but it's no stretch at all...
