Vikings season thread...
I figured between myself, beaner, Tin Cup and NJOriolesFan (am I missing anyone) there'd be enough interest to start a thread to discuss the Vikes season. I've actually tried reading Vikes message boards but most of the posts are along the line of "OMG why can't we rush the QB this is going to be the worst season ever we'll be lucky to win 3 games".
Anyway, just curious to see what everyone thought about the game last night.

This is going to sound bitter but we got ripped in the 2nd half on a few calls. The Schiancoe catch was a catch. The overexplaining of the second step was ridiculous. He never bobbled the ball. It was a catch all the way and then the ground caused a fumble. Wade was also mugged a few times late in the game. I think Rice was mugged once too.

Despite the enhanced play calling in the 2nd half, I was not happy with TJack and still see him as our biggest anchor.
AP remains a beast. He ran over a lot of folks!!

I thought the officiating was pretty bad on both sides. Way too tight at some times, way too loose at others. There were at least three blatant PI calls that the Vikes didn't get (that deep ball to Berrian where Al Harris flat out ran into him was probably the worst), but I also thought there were a few holding calls against GB that really shouldn't have been. I have no idea what the ref saw on that review, he clearly had possession of the ball until he hit the ground. That was a big play, too, as shortly thereafter the Vikings had to punt and GB ran it back.
As I mentioned in the other thread, all in all I was pleased. Certainly would've like the W, but against GB in Lambeau on opening night is a tough task. I was very pleased with Jackson once they actually let him throw the ball. Childress has to beat them in Minnesota this year though -- can't go to 0-6 lifetime against the Pack.

Ugh. I was OK with the moral victory at GB last week but not this week. No business losing that game. Well, except that Childress got his lunch handed to him by Dungy in the 2nd half.
I guess looking for positives, they've hung right with SB contenders in two straight weeks. Stinks to start 0-2 though.

Unreal, simply unreal. Should have had that game put away 10 different times. Good god!

One positive to take out of it is that the team is good QB play away from being an excellent football team. They need to take some pressure off of AP and give him some help or he isn't going to last over the long haul. He had an outstanding game but definately took a beating. As a fan, losing a game like that would ruin my whole week.

I was tempted to start a new thread, but I like to abide by the board rules as I interpet them (something that others take liberty with or don't pay attention to
).....
so here you are....
TJack sits, Gus is on the spot!
Not a bad move if you ask me.
As an aside, Gus looks a bit like a thug in this ESPN pic.

I don't like the move at all, but then I've been a lot less critical of Jackson than some other this year. If Shiancoe catches that TD pass last week, Minny likely beats Indy and this is all not even an issue. I don't feel like the failure of the passing game is Jackson's fault as much as it is Childress and his receivers.

This is humorous to me for two reasons, one is you questioned my comment that the Vikings wanted an upgrade at QB since they didn't have much faith in Tavaris, the other is NJOrioles Fan questioning my logic of thinking Rodgers > Jackson.

Well good luck with Gus Vikes fans.

Yea...NJO tried to tell us TJack was the best QB in the division. Good chance he was the worst QB in the division, even behind Orton.
Smart move by Minnesota replacing him but what do they gain with Frerotte? Are they better giving TJack experience vs starting a retread QB?
They should get Garcia, who is reportedly available.

They should've brought back Culpepper in the offseason or got Leftwich.
Trading for Garcia seems the only thing left if they want a playoff run.

How is it possibly a smart move then? Jackson really has not been that bad this year, unless he's missing open receivers that we can't see during the broadcast. He did a nice job getting the team back into the game at Lambeau. Threw a nice TD pass against Indy that was dropped. I think Childress is feeling the heat and pushed the panic button too soon.
