As if Teixeira didn't want to make you puke already
Check out this gem of a quote ""My dad would take me to O's games and I'd wear a Yankees hat, which wasn't too safe in Baltimore back in the '80s. But it was worth it. There's something about being a Yankee, no where you are there are Yankees fans, and I'm glad to be a Yankee today."
Goodness gracious. Someone should have told us he was that kind of kid. Honestly, I'm thinking of pulling my sons application from Mt Saint Joe just because I don't want him to be associated with anything that has to do with this guy.
Just another punk front runner growing up. I can't fault him for wanting to be with the team he wanted to be with, but it doesn't mean I'm going to like him.
With Mussina retiring, I now have my new most disliked big leaguer.

Thanks for bringing this up, Tony.
I read this earlier and it just made me sick. I'm surprised a bigger deal wasn't made of this on the OH, to be honest.
It's an absolutely sick comment and one that just proves Mark Teixeira never wanted to be an Oriole. I'm with you Tony, Mark Teixeira is public enemy #1.

Does this mean that everyone who thought AM did a horrible thing by only offering 7/140 is now going to realize he never was going to come here?

Just another punk front runner growing up? Hell, boss...he's just another punk front runner...now! (It can be argued that a punk front runner who was rather more clever would have swallowed hard and signed with either the Red $ox or the Angels, but that's another kettle of fish entirely!)

Yeah, I caught the bit of the press conference they showed live on Sportscenter today. That's about all I remember; I think I blacked out for the rest...

I'm around Teixeira's age. The Skanks weren't that great in the mid-1980's.
Why in the hell did they appeal to him?

Give him 2 years, and he'll be miserable. He's not even worth the text on this page, quite frankly. He's a mercenary, through and through. I would've loved to welcome him to Baltimore -- but boy did his true colors come through here. When do players like him learn... ask Mussina how his ring feels.

Check out this lovely quote from a Skanks fan (i.e., parasite) on Roch's blog.

Md Yankee Fan said:
This has to be one of the top 10 acquisitions we have ever made. We swooped in and grabbed him from you guys quicker then we snatched Damon.
I sort of feel sorry for you guys with your owner who wont spend any money. Why do you guys still support him? But I dont feel sorry when we win 12 of the 16 games this year from the O's

In what warped universe is being a Yankees fan in the '80's being a "punk front runner"?
The only year in the 80's they made the playoffs were 1980 and 1981. Other than that, they finished as high as 2nd in the AL East twice and 3rd another two times. They were closer to the bottom than the top every other year.
I realize it sucks that he went to the Yankees, and that they were in general an historic franchise, but lets not lose our minds.
Would you consider someone who today becomes a Cowboys fan now a "punk front runner"? The Cowboys of the 2000s are about as relevant as the Yankees of the 1980s.Last edited by Mackus; 01-07-2009 at 12:49 AM.

"I think it says a lot that a kid who grew up in Baltimore, whose family had season tickets in Baltimore, would cheer for . . . Mattingly. People would say, 'Why not Eddie [Murray], why not Cal [Ripken]?,' but there was just something about Don Mattingly."
Man crush?
