Here is a link to an MP3 of the 1983 highlights cassette they sold at the stadium in '84. My tape is not in perfect shape but I think this copy (which is a big download) is pretty good. Maybe it will be released commercially one day (like the old 1970: Year of the Birds record, which is available on CD).
I wish there was a video of this season.
I just downloaded the audio for it though, thanks.
Asked by a member of the Japanese media whether Orioles fans were ready for a pitcher from the Far East, MacPhail said: "I think Baltimore fans are ready for pitchers who get people out."
"If you pitch like you belong in the big leagues, the hitters believe that you believe..and then you believe that they believe it too".
Frank, you are my hero! I bought this cassette at the Orioles Store at age 12 in 1984. The tape got shredded probably sometime around 1992, and I have been looking for this ever since.
Thanks!!!
This is awesome. Even though I had just turned 2 when they won and have no memories of it at all, its still nice to listen to. I put it on when I was falling asleep last night...something about Jon Miller calling a game brings back good childhood memories.

This sounds cool. I did a quick Amazon search (for the 1970 Orioles cd) and couldn't find anything. Does anyone know where it is being sold?
Preserve that. Mite be the last of its type for a century or so...
MARTINEZ TO MURRAY ONCE!!
MARTINEZ TO MURRAY TWICE!!!!
MARTINEZ TO MURRAY THREE TIMES!!!!!!
I have that cassette too. Ireeplaceable memories.
We took 2 of 3 from Toronto in that series. The [in]famous game with the three pickoffs, and another game that was 1-1 until the 9th or 10th when Disco Dan Ford came through with a big game winning RBI double.
And then there was the game I actually went to in that series. O's lost something like 9-1 and somehow it didn't maike the cassette tape.
Two incredible games -- that I listened to on WFBR -- and one crappy game that I had great seats for. Darn the luck.
I miss listening to games on the radio. Back in the day, when more than half the games weren't on TV, you did that all the time. Now you only do that when you can't get the game on TV for whatever reason.
Jon Miller doing play-by-play of an April 19th Rangers game in which it was snowing...
It just doesn't get any better than that!"The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, with the hopes that St Nicholas will soon be there. So you can look up in the snow as the lights reflects off of the snow. You can see it swirling all round inside the stadium. Bullpen activity for the Rangers. Dancer the left-hander, Prancer the right-hander, throwing."
"There's a long high drive to deep right center field. Way back is O'Brien. Gone, home run. Merry Christmas John Lowenstein, 3-2 Baltimore."
"John Lowenstein welcomed by his whole teammates in the dugout. A warm reception however, as Lowenstein sent a rocket soaring through the winters eve and when it landed the Orioles had the lead."

"Everything we have and are is ours, and still exists, by grace and courage of the soldiers. They are the men of the century, because without them we should no longer be numbering its years-- or numbering them only to curse the wretchedness of our survival in it." Eric Linklater, 1953.
I just shed a little tear reading those last two posts. Great memories indeed.
Necropost...
Does anybody have this? The file is gone and I would LOVE to hear this.
Thanks,
John (an old fan from M.S. Section 34)
Line drive --- Ripken catches it at shortstop, and the Orioles are the champions of the world!
SO EXCITED!!!! I can't wait to hear this. I was actually at Game 2 when I was 12 years old. I truly wish the Orioles could be that great again!
Go Orioles!
John
