    Big Ten "Basketball". Seriously

    Penn State 38
    Illinois 33

Not a halftime score, that's the FINAL!

Seriously, just fold the league now.

LOL...That's amazing...I am hoping Duke catches a break this year in the tourney and gets a second round matchup with a team like Illinois.

THey talk about how the ACC coaches have a running joke with each other...They win the Big 10/ACC challenge every year, yet the Big 10 gets more teams into the tourney.

Outside of Mich St, does anyone really have any confidence in any team in that league year in and year out?

They do have some very good coaches in the league though.

Right there with you guys. I have been telling my friends for a while the Big Ten is the absolute most boring conference to watch and they drop yesterday’s doozy for the whole world to watch. Illinois didn’t shoot one free throw the entire game!

Holy Smokes, this Penn State - Illinois game much better than the previous. Penn State with the game winner basically at the buzzard. Amazing finish and tough shot, check it out on ESPN top 10 for sure.

I'm a penn state student who was at the game, and that was absolutely crazy, what a finish.

You don’t want to check out the shooting percentages in this game.

That is one ugly looking score.

    Box.

The Illini shot 32% from the field, 17% from three, and 53% from the stripe and won.

Oh...you're just bringing back great memories from my freshman year. I miss Talor Battle.

The worst one I've seen was in the Big Ten Tournament last year between my Nittany Lions and Wisconsin. There were literally about five 2 minute possessions in that game. It was absolutely terrible.

Here's the story in case you don't believe anything could be worse than the two games mentioned in this thread: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/recap?gameId=310700275

In general, though, I love Big Ten basketball. I grew up on the ACC, but after watching so many Penn State games the last 4 years, I can't even stand to watch the ACC anymore. Up and down, up and down, up and down. It's like watching a freaking track meet. Ugh. There's a reason the shot clock lasts for 35 seconds, not 24.

    I know!

All those made baskets, all those athletic plays in transition. It really gets old after a while. I'd much rather watch them dribble to the ball for about 20 seconds before they start doing anything.

Actually the pass for 20 seconds, running the offense, trying to get an open look. There's something beautiful about a half court offense/defense. I just love a good knockdown, drag out game, where the pace is under control. This is probably why I love baseball so much, and why I hate hurry up offenses in football.

Man I'd love to hear your opinion on certain topics if you didn't go to Penn State. Just sayin'

And I wish I could have an opinion without getting crap for it.

The truth of the matter is, I like what I watch the most because that's what I'm used to. I grew up on Big Ten football and ACC basketball, so I enjoyed it. Now I'm used to Big Ten football and Big Ten basketball, so I like it. When I was younger, I didn't like watching baseball, but then I started to get into it and fell in love with it. So...basically when you say, "I'd love to hear your opinion if you didn't go to Penn State", you're basically saying, "I'd love to hear your opinion if your life choices didn't help to form them."

In other words, my opinions are my opinions because they're my opinions...just like everybody else's.

This is all well and good but saying "Big 10 basketball is better* than ACC basketball" is one of those opinions that are wrong. That's like saying "in my opinion getting burned at the stake is more fun than eating marshmallows" or something. Sure, you're entitled to it but people will look at you cock-eyed. And when your main argument is hating all the "up and down" play and comparing it to a "track meet" it smacks of searching for a reason to defend your brand instead of actually buying into it. But hey, I've been wrong before.

*When I say better I mean more aesthetically pleasing. I don't doubt that many Big 10 teams could beat many ACC teams as evidenced by the last few ACC/Big 10 challenges.

Oh...ok. It's all good then. I didn't want to imply that Big Ten basketball was more entertaining or more fun to watch in general. Actually...I'm very aware that it's not asthetically pleasing. I was just stating my preference to watch that style of game compared to the "run and gun" ACC. I understand why most people don't like it, but I love it, which is all I was trying to say. I'm sorry if it came across as ACC-bashing because that really wasn't my intent.
