Hey guys, hadn't posted in awhile so I thought I'd jump in again.
Anyway, I finished P90X last fall, took 2 weeks off and then started a Men's Health workout. It wasn't nearly challenging enough so I doubled up (added a different one). Now I just do my own thing in the gym, now that I know enough. Every Sunday I plan out my week, and the workouts always change, but this is what I do now:
Monday and Friday: Intense, full body weight training - squats, benches, everything.
Tuesday and Thursday: 20 min Intense cardio, followed by some sport (basketball, racquetball, etc), 20 min. easy cardio, and then 5-10 min intense cardio to finish off
Wednesday - Hour of yoga. I alternate a few programs I found online with the P90X yoga.
In terms of supplements, I cycle a different pre-workout every time because I develop a resistance to these very quickly. I just finished up Jack3d, and I'm starting MuscleTech's new product "Neurocore" which is getting great reviews on GNC.com. I swear by the GNC Wheybolic protein because its amino blend is fantastic. I take it with milk and I replace half a scoop of the wheybolic with a scoop of soy protein, that way you're hitting whey, casein (in the milk) and soy protein. It gives you a 10 min-10 hour recovery window that only one of these on their own can't give you. Fianlly, I'm taking the GNC Ripped Vitapak - which is fantastic. Wait until it goes on sale, I managed to pick up 4 for $120, instead of the 1 for $70 normal price they have.
Right now, I'm taking a 2-3 weeks off, because I didn't take the proper amount of rest weeks I should, and combined with the 6-7 hours of sleep I'm LUCKY to get a night, I basically ran myself into the ground. So, that's another lesson, absolutely USE the rest week!
Anyway, that's where I'm at
Sorry for the novel!

I keep hearing great things about Jack3d. I've never used a pre-workout drink before, I might need to check this one out. Hey Araqnid, what is the GNC Ripped Vitapak? How were you results? Does it decrease appetite at all? Any side effects? I have taken thermo supplements before, but most of them had unbearable side effects. USPlabs OxyELITE Pro was a great supplement. Burned an insane amount of calories and it completely crashed your appetite. The side effects were just too much. I've stayed away from thermo supplements since.

I've had P90X for a while and have done a few of them but I (honestly) have not had the time to get it really started yet.
However I decided that I just have to start despite my lack of free time. My first day is next week!

I'm working through P90X+ still, and I was doing great. But man, the last 2 weeks have been crazy busy and I have done like nothing...I feel like such a bum!
I've pre-ordered the new P90X. I'm looking forward to some new workouts.

The GNC Ripped Vitapak (and they have ones for Strength and Endurance as well, but I'm never taken either of them) is:
- 2 GNC Megaman Sport - their propietary multi-vitamin
- 4 CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid) - this is a fatty acid that is usually the victim of a low-fat diet. It has a ton of benefits including: Increased metabolic rate, lowers choleterol, lowers insulin resistence, and enhances immune system. So it promotes a greater immune system and more lean muscle.
- 1 Waterex - Water pill to shed excess water weight
- 1 Thermogenic - Increases body temp slightly to allow you to burn more calories.
It's a pretty solid vitamin pack. I didn't lose/gain any weight, but I noticeably more visibility in my abs - which is exactly why you would take this. My appetite never changed, but it hasn't ever been that big to begin with.
Two things to keep in mind though:
1) There are a lot of vitamins, and in general, its not a great idea to take too many, because it can overwork your liver and a buildup of most vitamins has actually been shown to be harmful. To make sure I'm never overdoing it, I only take this on days that I go to work. I work 4-5 days a week (have every other Wednesday off), so I'm able to give my body the weekend and occasional week day off to continue processing what's already there. This is important if you're on the smaller side (I'm 5'6'', 140-145lbs)
2) You probably should space out when you take them. I take 1 Megaman, 2 CLA, the Water pill and the thermo in the morning with breakfast and then the remaining megaman and 2 CLA with lunch. I find if I do them all at the same time, I tend to get a little nauseous.

I don't think this is 100% true. While they're both made by USPLabs, OxyElite Pro is a thermo, which raises your body temp as a means to burn more calories - Jack3d is a nitric oxide pre-workout supplement. It promotes increased bloodflow which gives it a very good delivery of the other supplements within it - namely the stimulants (gernanium), creatine (for muscle rebuilding) and beta alanine (muscle endurance and strength). The overall effect is not weight/fat loss like OxyElite Pro, rather the ability to weight-train longer, with more weight.
You might be confusing with Yok3d, which is another nitric-oxide supplement and does much of the same stuff that Jack3d does. Yok3d uses a different delivery method (this is a bit beyond what I've researched and learned from my friendly neighborhood GNC), but basically does the same thing.

I liked Jack3d but decided to give Animal Rage a try. I like it a lot as the energy is sustained w/o getting the jitters.

I'm adapting to Asylum. I stopped getting sore, and I'm staying in the intervals longer. I like that you can work pullups into the week.
One thing though - he works the hell out of your back top to bottom, but not your abs and chest so much. This is almost the inverse of the original Insanity.

Update: I am just about to head into the recovery week for the second block (going into my 8th week). I am definitely starting to see some good results. When I started I could only do 6 wide front pull-ups, now I can knock out 16 for my first set. My reverse chin-ups I did 9 when I first started, now my best is 22 on my first set (only got 12 on my last set though haha). My endurance with push-ups is going up as well. I have also started to see some solid physical results. On my biceps I am actually starting to see a distinction between the two muscles. My abs are becoming a little more visible, and my chest is starting to become more defined and firm. My wife looked at me the other day and was like "wow you're getting muscly!"
I am absolutely loving P90X so far. The workouts challenge you to best your previous best so they really don't get any easier. Then when you think you have something mastered they throw in new workouts. I cannot wait to get to training block 3. After P90X I think I'm going to try a P90X/Insanity hybrid but right now I am staying focused on finishing this program. It is exciting to see results!
