I know where you're coming from OldFan. Just last week I was at a game and three, count 'em THREE little kids were simply decimated by line drives in my section alone! Blood, guts, the whole shebang. Really a terrible sight.
Take your baby outside in your yard, to the park, etc. if you want as I agree that is mostly a good thing. Again, I just fail to see why they need to be taken to a major sporting event that they get nothing more out of it than a trip to the City Park or playground? You also need to be very careful about a baby getting sunburned. That is where skin cancer that forms later in life originates, from stupid parents letting infants be exposed with their tender skin to the bright sun.
I've been to around a hundred O's games in my lifetime and some of them were from a very young age. 3-4 Months - Current age (13) One time, I'd been screaming at the players telling them what they should and shouldn't do. People would just look down at me and say, "How old is he, he knows more than I do." My aunt would then smile and say, "Two..."
I've read all the evidence from both sides, but I'm still inclined to say that very young children don't need to be at baseball games. However, that's about all I'll say, in the interest of keeping this semi-civilized (though it may be too late for that).
Of course they don't need to be at baseball games. I actually agree with oldfan that they get nothing more out a ball game than going to the park. But there's also absolutely nothing wrong with taking a baby to the game, provided that you keep the baby safe and it doesn't bother the other patrons.
Pretty sad that I asked a simple question yesterday, got that question answered on page 1, but the thread lives on nine pages later as a tribute to one man's ability as a hijacker par excellence.
