Four Local Teams Make Lax Tourney

I'm not the biggest lacrosse fan you'll find, but the seeding for the tournament have been announced, and four local teams have made it this year. Hopkins gets Brown at home, Navy gets #3 Duke, UMBC will travel to UNC, and Maryland gets #7 Notre Dame.

The big question going in was whether Maryland and Loyola would make it. In this case Loyola didn't get in, and the analysis says it was because of their strength of schedule.

Considering that the experts though UMBC would be going to Duke, the UNC match-up is somewhat surprising. The last two years they've played ACC teams, beating Maryland in 2007 at College Park, and losing by one goal to Virginia last year. I know we've got some Tar Heel fans on this site, but I think the game is winnable, at least I hope so.

    GO DAWGS!!!

I was going to move out of my apartment in Clemson on Sunday to come back home, but now I think I'm moving that up to Saturday. I'm trying to plan my drive that I hit UNC like an hour before game time and then finish the drive after the game. It will be awesome to see UMBC play at UNC. I hope I can make that happen. It's good cause UNC is right off 85 so I don't have to stray too much to be able to go.

I thought fleetingly about going, but when I read that UNC is holding graduation ceremonies on the same day I decided to stay away from there and just watch it on ESPNU with some enemies if I can find some UNC fans around here who actually give a rat's arse about lacrosse. I do that almost four hour drive to the Raleigh/Durham area wwaayy too often for work anyway. It's too bad it doesn't coincide with a conference or training I have to go to. If you can avoid graduation traffic it should be a nice way to break up your trip though. Good luck and bring us a win so I can rub it in my colleagues' faces!

Unfortunately UMBC lost today 15-13. Very disappointing, but a great season regardless. It would be great though if some day soon the team gets to the Final Four and pulls a Navy type streak of stunning everyone. I only hope that day will come soon.
