That has decent value.
I completely agree here. Obviously, I'm not going to be happy watching the Orioles get pounded, but there is that silver lining. There is that little voice in the back of my head that sees a 6-foot-7 inch right handed Texan firing mid-90s fastballs in an Orioles uniform.

I know its jumping the gun, but the way he sounds, I may be inclined to start him off in Delmarva. One of the reports I read on him says that he could probably get ML batters out NOW. That to me is ridiuclous, and I really want him in our system, itd suck to lose out on him just because we won 1 more meaningless game in September....

Well, he probably could, but not consistently (his command isn't there yet). Further, he obviously needs to build up durability and endurance, in addition to refining a third pitch (change-up/slider). So, he's still a ways off, but has very impressive stuff right now, no doubt.

    Obviously, still early.

Totally agree. I am very surprised that nobody has hijacked this thread and called us not "true fans" yet.

What kind of "true fans" are you!

I am with you guys. Atleast this gives us something to follow day in and day out. I would much rather be watching the scoreboard to see if the Yankees or Sox won, but it is what it is right now. We will be there soon hopefully. I am a very big fan of the draft so this is fun for me.

Looks like the fourth pick is pretty much secured. Would love to have that third one though!

I doubt it will matter much between 3rd and 4th, but we'll see.
Maybe a couple hundred thousand in the final price.

Our remaining series against Cleveland will be mighty interesting.

Can we call it the Crap Series?

    Crap Series

It is actually quite sad how the Orioles in the past couple of years have changed my perception of baseball. I do not really care anymore about Wild Card or Playoff races but now a days rather check how the Royals or Indians played...

If it's the difference between landing Taillon/Cole or missing out on those two stud young arms, it could make a big difference. While Renaudo would be nice and all, we really need to stock the low-minors for that next wave of pitchers.

I think you are putting a bit too much into the stock of these talents right now. It could be a big difference . . . but it typically is not at all. Usually a draft really only has one or two big prospects per year. Then it all sort of collapses.

In September of Last Year here was Keith Law's top 15 for the 2009 Draft:

    1. Stephen Strasburg RHP San Diego State
    2. Grant Green SS Univ. of Southern California
    3. Alex White RHP Univ. of North Carolina
    4. Kyle Gibson RHP Univ. of Missouri
    5. Dustin Ackley CF/1B Univ. of North Carolina
    6. Aaron Crow RHP Fort Worth Cats
    7. Andy Oliver LHP Oklahoma State
    8. Matt Davidson 3B Yucaipa H.S., Yucaipa, Calif.
    9. Donovan Tate CF Cartersville H.S., Cartersville, Ga.
    10. Robbie Shields SS Florida Southern
    11. Matt Purke LHP Klein HS, Spring, TX
    12. Shelby Miller RHP Brownwood H.S., Brownwood, Texas
    13. Ben Tootle RHP Jacksonville State
    14. Mychal Givens RHP H.B. Plant H.S., Tampa, Fla.
    15. Tyler Matzek LHP Capistrano Valley H.S., Mission Viejo, Calif.

Everyone saw Strasburg, but no one expected there to be so much distance between Ackley and the rest of the Field.

That's true. I'm just looking for something to get excited about with the club.

It is funny looking at this list, though and seeing Givens at #14.
