Yeah, Stotle and I have been discussing him as a potential target for the Orioles. If he comes back from his broken leg and progresses as he was expected before the injury . . . he should be a good slot signing. His defense will stick and his bat has some promise to it. The top tier players may be gone by the third pick and next year's draft looks like another one where overslotting could be rather important. A lot of high school arms seem to be coming out again.

I assume him selecting Colon there is for the same reasons he and I discussed. BPA would be Ranaudo.

Im guessing that Cole's draft slot hinges this year on the development of his secondaries.

I wonder if he added 2 MPH to an already plus fastball if thatd boost his stock as much as him solidfying his secondaries more consistently into possible plus or above average offerings....
Whitson is ahead of Cole in the eyes of atleast the two scouts crammed in next to me at his start today. He impressed a lot of people, and I don't think it's a stretch to say he's getting some talk as the best hs arm -- right up with Taillon. I'll put my video up this evening before bed, but need to shower, eat and dump all the footage from today off the camera.

EDIT -- Sorry, fell asleep. Will post later this evening, hopefully. Have to head out the fields again right now. FYI, Whitson hit 96 and had a breaking ball and change-up working pretty well, yesterday. Also, quality kid with good head on his shoulders (from witnessing him hanging around the fields in between games).

Yup -- definitely. Looks like there are more hs arms deserving of high 6-figures than there are reasonable slots for them.

Interesting. If we're going to go slot and this kid's physically healthy and back to form, count me in.

    Thanks for the heads up.
