Didn't watch Part 2 just yet. Did the "rogue" agent turn out to be a good guy?

What do you think? I feel like these big-theme episodes are like a bad combover.

Yes Jim, television is predictable we know.

I thought the anti-shipper moments were an odd choice.

I liked the economic aspect to the threat this time around.

I liked how they slipped in the announcement of additional Derrick Storm graphic novels.

The escape from the elevator was way beyond what I am willing to suspend my disbelief for.

Eh. I don't mind that. And it wasn't the source of my criticism. I guess I just don't want to see Castle episodes about saving the world. This is twice now. They lack the nuanced interplay between the main characters, for one. But they also lack focus. They're somewhat equivalent to Magnum PI episodes about Vietnam.

Once a season, during sweeps, doesn't bother me. I like how the show can go from fairly dramatic to goofy on any given week. They do need to start accelerating the Beckett/Castle storyline.

I think the writers are afraid (like pretty much every show in the last 25 years) of another Moonlighting. I think audiences can adapt to a relationship, but everyone is always scared that the relationship is the main draw and once they get together, it will ruin the show.

Either way, I doubt they get together until Beckett gets some kind of resolution on her mother's death.

That is a valid concern. They should also be aware that the show could end up like Bones, where they clearly waited to long to get them together.

Psych has handled it pretty well, I think.

Season finale was last night and overall I was pleased.

    Spoilers below

Nice to see the two main characters seal the deal. Even if it doesn't work at least they had the guts to try it.

Nice to see there will not be a convenient 3 month hole in the storyline this time.

I liked the Ryan/Esposito conflict that showed up and will continue forth into next season. I am always a firm believer that supporting characters need to grow as well.

From a realism standpoint they really back themselves into a corner this time. I don't see how she doesn't end up dead. Even if they get wind that Mr Smith was compromised I don't see how she could defend herself from the sniper.

I thought they handled the resolution of the romantic tension of the two main characters very well. I'm always nervous when a show goes off in this direction, but I think the writers can handle it. I wonder if next season is going to be all about the "Kate as hunter/target" plot line, or whether they will resolve it after a couple of episodes and go back to having "normal" shows. Though, it won't be quite the same next year, no matter what.
