Taylor Street got plowed around 11:30 last night, not by a plow truck, but by a backhoe...which briefly got stuck in front of our driveway!
There's now a one-lane, icy cart track running down the middle of Taylor Street. 18th hasn't sniffed a plow yet.Last edited by Mad Mark; 02-07-2010 at 01:52 PM.

This is getting ridiculous. The snow stopped almost 24 hours ago and there has been no plow near my neighborhood. Supposedly they were to have unleashed every last plow over these last 24 hours and I live right next to I-95. Not sure what is taking so long but I need to get out of here! Cabin feva!!

I'm feeling very lucky about being dug out (5 hours by myself by hand), streets are plowed for 2 way traffic, and the power has stayed on.
It really sucks for my parents though. They are getting off the Carnival ship at the Port of Baltimore, their car is buried in a lot full of 1000 buried cars, and they have 150 feet of unshoveled driveway awaiting them 50 miles away. There's nothing I can really do about it either.

Just finished digging out the bottom of my driveway. I'm once again reunited with the world.

I don't know who told you that, to the point where you said "supposedly" but the state was already 20 mil over budget for snow removal. You really think that the removal, while necessary, won't be done in the most economical way possible? Fewest trucks, fewest plows, minimal non-daytime work to decrease over/double-time, etc.
I mean, Ritchie Hwy, which is definitely a major through way/highway, was plowed, but only enough that now there's about 2 inches of packed snow as "the roadway."
Most people, I think, are going to be untouched and might get the double insult of not being touched by the next fall on Tuesday.

I know I've posted this elsewhere, but do you know the policy for ticket refunds?
We got my wife's sister out, which is great...we can finally head to the store and reload on essentials, like vodka. Our car, however, is insanely stuck. Plus the people next to me dug themselves out by putting their snow in front of MY car. Stay classy, Steelers fan.Last edited by The Epic; 02-07-2010 at 01:38 PM.

I just got an e-mail from "Gary Williams" offering free student admission to this game because many ticket-holders can't show up. Of course, I can't show up either, because the parking lot isn't plowed, my car is still buried, the buses aren't running, and I live near an above-ground Metro station that is shut down. But it was a nice thought.

Our neighbor Dan--having run out of sidewalks to conquer--is now "plowing" 18th Street...with his snow blower! Amazing stuff going on here.

Since you are having a tough winter in B'more I thought I would make a huge sacrifice and take some pictures for you that don't have snow in them. It took me almost 90 seconds to walk to the beach to take these.

It will be Spring soon.Last edited by Satyr3206; 02-07-2010 at 02:05 PM. Reason: enlarged pics
