Trust me, I was dragged there against my will.

I loathe crowds unless there's a sporting event going on. Or a concert.

My wife was 8 months, 3 weeks pregnant on the eve of an enormous snow we had in early January 1996. It started snowing Sunday morning and never stopped until Tuesday morning. On Sunday afternoon, after 10-12" had fallen and the end was nowhere in sight, my wife called the local fire station and said, "I'm pregnant, if I go into labor and we can't get out, can you guys come get me?" The answer came back, "Lady, we'll try." Not at all what my wife wanted to hear. Fortunately, she didn't go into labor until two days after the snow stopped falling. Then we had another 8 inches fall that night and I got marooned at the hospital and had to sleep in a lounge chair in my wife's hospital room.

Its more about what they are buying and how much that people roll their eyes. Not the act of going to the store.

I was going to go tomorrow, but obviously, that can't happen. So I go today.

All of the factors have come together perfectly for a classic nor'easter....Would not be surprised one bit if some of Maryland's Winter Storm Warnings are changed to blizzard warnings later today. Snow accumulations should easily exceed 20 inches in most Maryland locations and DC, with some higher terrain receiving in excess of 30 inches.

Your record snow amounts that are now in jeopardy:

    DC
    28" Jan 1922

    Baltimore
    26.8" Feb 2003

    Dulles
    24.6" Jan 1996

If you some of you could report some snow totals here as we head toward Saturday, I would greatly appreciate it! I'm sure the event has been hyped up as all hell down there, but for good reason!

Thanks, be careful, and have fun!
This storm happened during my 21st bday. Not a pleasant experience.

I have found that Coors Light is as effective as Sam Adams Winter Lager.

I did get both, however... so roll that up in your fact sheet and smoke it.

I am at work in Hunt Valley right now, and the radar has the storm about a half mile away from me. I am looking out the window now to confirm.

After being housebound for 3 or 4 days I think drinking for effect will be back in vogue.
