    New Game: Band vs. Band

Here's how it works... I'll pick two bands to start out, and the next person picks "a winner" from those two bands and proposes "a challenger". The next person will pick the winner and select a challenger. So on and so forth.

    First matchup:

    Love vs. The Zombies

Don't know much about Love. The Zombies had Rod Argent and Russ Ballard.

I had heard the name Pretty Things but I had to look 'em up. Great hard rocking band. Still gotta say Zombies.

    Zombies vs. Grand Funk

Love made maybe my favorite album ever (I'm not necessarily saying it was the best) in Forever Changes. Even with the often obscure hippy-dippy lyrics, this record still has a following and I'm right there in the lead.

FWIW, in the beginning Jim Morrison hoped the Doors could be as popular as Love someday (statement circa 1966). Following is an album (45 actually) cut from 1966 which might be my favorite Love cut of all. It's not on Forever Changes but appears on an earlier album.

That's about what I knew about Love. They and the Them were second tier to the Doors in the Whiskey-a-go-go days.

This is the Pretty things I listened to.

I'm going to go against the grain a little here and pick the Easybeats. Partly for the next matchup and partly because the Zombies might come up again with Argent...

    The Easybeats vs. The Trashmen

Well I'll pick The Trashmen simply because I want to post this clip of Dick Dale with some guy named Steve sitting in on "Pipeline".
