Ok. Was it mutual or did they walk on their own?

Here's the deal. Nestor wanted him to take a 60% pay cut. He said he would not take the pay cut and walked out.

I spoke to Nestor recently about his advertising rates and they are outrageous. I am sure this was a financial move since everyone knew he had the best guy in town.

Best of luck Bob_please replace Scott Garceau!

Hey Bob, if you're listening (uh, reading) come on board the Hangout and talk Orioles with us. Also, this is a blessing for you my friend. You're one of the best in town, and now you can find a new home and be recognized for the talent you have.

Wow... I've only heard Bob a couple of times, but he is very good, and now thankfully away from WNST. I wish Bob the best of luck and hope that the bigger stations/media outlets have the wisdom to not only add him, but feature him... yesterday.

Is Nestor being cheap or is the station failing and in danger of going under?

I've heard they are having a real difficult time selling to advertisers. Ratings are also down as well, not that they were ever all that special to begin with.

As a former radio guy, I've heard a lot of stations are in trouble across the country. Satellite radio and station ownership conglomerates make it really tough to keep local, quality online talent on the air. So many stations have moved to 90 percent or more syndicated packages, because it is far cheaper than paying people.

    It is a bummer.

I don't really see it as a bummer. Haynie will move to a reputable station and continue. It isn't him that will suffer. WNST chose their path and will suffer the consequences. Of course they will scream and pout that it is everyone elses fault but in reality, it was their choice.

    I say good riddance.

Yeah, I agree. Guys like Bob is what makes sports talk radio worth listening to. With the exception of a few, most national shows only cater only to large markets.

    Haynie out at NST

Bob Haynie is out at WNST.

    http://wnst.net/wordpress/nestorapar...10/06/07/3677/

That also mean I am out at NST, since Haynie was by and far the best thing on that station. Hope he lands on 105.7 or 1370, Haynie is much better than either of those stations mid-day guys.

Also, could Nestor be any more self-serving in that 'blog' entry?

Haynie should find a job fairly quickly. He is the best interviewer in town IMO!

I think 1370 could be a monster if they got Bob from 12pm to 4pm with Rob in the morning!
