As usual read as little or as much into this as you want. Here's the deal I was told that was on the table to the Cubs:

Cubs get Peavy from SD

Orioles get Pie, Marquis + 4 million cash from CHI

Phillies get Derosa from CHI

SD gets Hill, Vitters, Cedeno from CHI, Olson form Bal, Happ from PHI

I like this deal a lot. Hopefully, it will prevent us from throwing any money at Garland.

This seems like good news to me. I like Pie, at least defensively (sorry, Roy), and Marquis is better than Olson, at least for now. I can't remember... how many years does JM have left on his contract? Might he be a potential flip candidate?

I'm all for it sounds great now make it happen Andy. This corroborates the story by Phil Rogers from the Chicago Tribune. Whats the time table for this deal being completed look like? If we can pry Marquis and Pie for just Olson and money that is a fine trade.

By the way, that's a pretty damn good haul for Peavy.

I like this one alot better than just Pie for Olson. Hopefully, Marquis causes MacPhail to abandon Garland.

This is great. Considering the stage this team is at, Marquis makes a lot more sense than a 3 or 4 year contract for a Garland type. We can afford below average stop gap type pitchers until we are ready to compete.

Seems like a lot Chicago would be giving up. But I like it a lot for Baltimore!!
