That doesn’t refute anything I said.
The decision to pick up his option or not will not be changed by a ten game stretch. But it’s far better to start hot than cold.
Remember last year Sucre started blazing, and was gone within a month.
The Orioles suffer a crushing loss to the Yankees on a 9th-inning home run by Aaron Judge.
The Orioles immediately rebound from the crushing loss to the Yankees, and sweep the highly-regarded Tampa Bay Rays.
The Orioles get swept 4 games straight by the lowly-regarded Florida Marlins.
In the 4-game sweep at the hands of the Marlins, the Oriole offense scores only 1 Run in the first 3 games of said sweep (2 of which were only 7-Inning games.)
The Oriole offense comes alive in the 4th and final game of the Marlins series, but the pitching and defense lets them down in an 8-7 loss.
The Oriole offense continues where it left off in the final game of the Marlins series ........ this time aided by excellent pitching and defense in an 11-0 rout of the defending world champion Nationals.
I don't know who I thought these guys were in the 1st place, and I don't know who they are now ........ I'm just hanging on tight for the Orange-and-Black ride in this strange, roller-coasterish, pandemic-shortened season.
I agree, if they got something for him. A dump would just be stupid. Besides, let’s not pretend he’s making millions. He’s making a prorated share of 900,000.
Plus if they are ever going to win they will need competent relief pitchers.
How? It's not like there's a lot of competition for being "one of our best free agent acquisitions in awhile". Even if he wasn't hitting like he has been, he's a legit starting shortstop - which we needed - and he's relatively cheap.
