In addition to the J15 international festivities today, it’s also the deadline for the O’s to exchange arbitration figures with Trey Mancini and Anthony Santander. I believe the deadline is 1 pm. So, lots to talk about today!
I will be shocked if the O’s and Mancini don’t come to terms before the deadline. There’s a long history of players who miss the season essentially staying at the same salary the next year, with maybe a $50-100 k raise in some cases.
Santander could be more interesting. Using two different methodologies, MLBTR has him at $1.7 mm and $3.0 mm. The O’s essentially split the difference between the two methods with Severino, so we could see something similar here. Maybe a settlement in the $2.3 - 2.5 mm range.
Plenty of time left but the job of Elias is to make the team better now and long term..he hasn’t done that this offseason.
But there are still a lot of guys out there and a lot of moves that can be made, so we can’t judge him yet.
Dunno, I've conditioned myself to be ready for boring offseasons for the Orioles for quite some time now.
Adding in the Covid mess and what it did to the season last year and how there's an uncertainty hangover for 2021, it's no wonder the offseason has been pretty lackluster so far. That, and it seems like the past few offseasons have been trending to a point where FAs don't sign until January. The action seemingly starts later and later each year.
Real feel 25 degrees, 13-15 mph winds, and Few snow showers probably later in the game.
I don't think it will play a factor in the passing game.
