Bundy traded to Angels for Isaac Mattson, Kyle Bradish, Zach Peek, and Kyle Brnovich

Recommended Posts

BP's transaction writeup had the tidbit that Brnovich was Elon's Friday night guy (#1 starter) ahead of George Kirby, who went in the first round.

More than any comparison between the two players, my main takeaway is...Elon...wow and good for you.

Good point.  I wonder who Elon's pitching coach is?

He thinks player development can create quality from certain raw attributes. So he grabs as many with those attributes as possible.

Most teams try to find the players they like from other teams and try to help them to the next level. My friend is a scout for a MLB team and he is always trying to find a hidden gem from another organization and unlock their talents .Maybe the Orioles didn't do this as much before but they were operating in Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble time.

Obviously you are joking here. But I'd be willing to bet that likelihood of any fan taking that stance over Bundy is low. But even lower for a person that posts or even frequents a site like this.

A rare occurrence does happen. I remember @JTrea81 talking of walking away over Angelos and something that was going on.

I believe he blew a gasket and may have even been banned for a while.

I still follow that guy on twitter. Very active in politics. Still comments on the O's, at least on twitter. Don't know if he still has that message board. I'm guessing he didn't really get any traffic.

Is that his Twitter handle or does he go by something else? Mine's completely different that's why I'm asking.

Circa 2008 he was advocating the team (remember, with essentially no farm system and a 68-win baseline) sign a bunch of Teixeira/Fielder category free agents to right the ship.  He's probably thrilled with a complete rebuild.  Surprised we haven't felt great disturbances in the force.

The greatest Trea-ism was "no one should ever be criticized for their opinions."

Yeah, he's @jtrea81. Lists his real name there (I assume it is).

If I recall correctly, he liked Chris Davis and really was a fan of Justin Smoak. I could be wrong.

Pretty sure he wasn't the Smoak fan.

Trea liked dongs.

Ryan Conroy, our 8th rounder from 2018, is out of Elon, as is Ryne Ogden, a 2B we acquired in a trade last April.

    • I’d be asking for 1 of their top 6, 1 in the top 15, and 2 others.    But, you have to wonder what the money issues and missed season have hurt his value. I’d imagine they’d probably want to examine him beyond having their people look at his medical records concerning his strength and conditioning. I don’t think this a guy the Orioles should just give away. Id ask for Drew Waters, Tucker Davidson , maybe Spencer Strider , and a DSLkid.
    • I'm not trolling you when I click on Wander (no, I'm not Franco) Javier and see that he last hit .177 and has an injury history. Livan Soto hit .220 in AAA ball.   The scouting report on Omar Estevez says he doesn't have the tools to stick at SS in the majors.   There's a reason these guys were out there and didn't get selected.   Maybe some of them do have a future but with Galvis you know what you're going to get.  If they signed him to a multi year deal, I'd be upset by it but it's a one year deal...it's fine.
    • You're three decades late on this idea.  Teams did it all the time back in the 1990s.   You could pay to do it on the club level overlooking the field at Camden Yards back in the mid-90s
    • Bad move and I am not going to be excited about it! I gave a list in my last posts of guys they could've taken a shot on in the rule 5. Obviously some of them aren't ready but who cares. They would've saved around 1 million dollars and as long as his glove plays who cares if you are signing a guy that going to get on base as such a low percentage anyway. I honestly thought Elias would move away from the low OBP guys that have been a staple of Orioles baseball for a long time. I understand trading Iglesias for resources ....But I don't see how signing this guy does anything but cost extra money that the Orioles are showing signs of financial distress.
    • I said I was exaggerating! I'm not incorrect in saying that this move is "Dumpster Diving" or the Bottom of Bargain Bin signing! And as @Tony-OH said they could've just gave the at bats to Martin or someone else that we have playing for the minimum. Or draft a guy in the rule 5 that perhaps has a future in MLB baseball. Like Lenyn Sosa, SS, Alfredo Rodriguez, SS , Wenceel Perez, SS , Livan Soto, SS , Leonardo Rivas, SS , Omar Estevez, 2B/SS,  Wander Javier, SS , Arquimedes Gamboa SS, Jordy Barley SS, Kevin Smith SS/3B Players that I highlighted 1) Wander Javier 60 ARM/60 GLOVE 2) Livan Soto   55 ARM/ 60 GLOVE /50 HIT 3) Leonardo Rivas 60 ARM/60 GLOVE/55 HIT (***BB PROSPECTUS 2020) 4) Arquimedes Gamboa 60 ARM/60 GLOVE /60 RUN 5) Jordy Barley 60 ARM/ 55 GLOVE/60RUN 6) Kevin Smith  60 ARM/ 55 GLOVE https://www.mlb.com/news/rule-5-draft-eligible-prospects-2020   AND DONT BE A TROLL!!
    • Me either, but apparently they believe Galvis is a significantly better player then he's been over the last few years offensively and the major drop off last year defensively was apparently an aberration, because players normally get better at 31.  I don't hate this move, I just don't see what it does all that much. I think they could have player Sanchez at SS and probably gotten the same defense and allowed Valaika or Urias to play 2B every day to see what they have. But hey, why not bring in a 31-year old with bad defensive numbers last year and well below average stick?
