  1. Control of the offense has been firmly wrestled away from Cam Cameron. Sunday's game featured Cam calling the play Joe wants called. That's not to say you won't see things get conservative at times and Cam will still have his fingerprints on the offense.

  2. Andino's dad saying "that's my boy" while high-fiving people in the stands after the inside-the-parker reminded me why I love baseball.

  3. Totally agree with this. I was almost watching through my fingers. And we're one of the worst teams in baseball. Great, great game. Might be a decade from now. Might be two decades from now. But someday we'll be playing in October. Regarding tonight: Can't complain at all about their effort. In no way did they roll over for the Sox. That's as much as I can ask. Hopefully we get the Lester monkey off our back tomorrow.

  4. Can't get mad. That was one HELL of an effort by the O's. Let's get 'em tomorrow. Knock Lester out early, and leave them with a tired 'pen.

  5. Well I have to tell you, I'm not very well conditioned for meaningful O's baseball this late in the season. I can't imagine how this would feel if it were US with the change to make the playoffs, but this has been incredibly intense and suspenseful. I love this game.

  6. So sending Hardy works there. Also Pappelpoop is at 14 pitches right around the level you don't want your closer, a few more pitches and he is a the "Gregg now has 1 out" level.

  7. Wieters t-shirt, Markakis jersey, and three different O's hats on my head. I hope this appeases the baseball gods.

  8. Bedard has thrown a lot of pitches, and our offense has been on the verge all night. This baby ain't over.

  9. Thirded. Last season, I did my best to rep and respond to TonySoprano's thoughtful posts, but want to re-affirm my appreciation for them. Some thoughts: Showing Chalky's family and house definitely signifies he will be a major character this season. The biggest theme was of course about the various parent/child relationships. (Wish I could have seen more Chaplin.) Nucky and Jimmy have that relationship. Jimmy tries to hide that relationship at the end. Nucky clearly sees through the Commodore and his attempts to reap the rewards of Jimmy's development. Jimmy is unresolved. Two boys are bei

  11. Hard to tell. Miller says its ego, but it might just be stubborness. I don't think stubborness and ego are the same thing. But if that is how you want to view it, I won't hold you back.

  12. My whole point with calling it absurd is the fact that I don't think he is trying to hurt the team for his own benefit. He might not see it the same way Joe does. I am not sticking up for Cam, I don't like him as an OC, but I don't think its personal. I just don't agree with how he views Joe's abilities. My view point is that if they are trying to hold Joe back at all, its not because they don't want him to get too much credit. That is the absurd part to me. I think if they are holding him back from some things, its more because they don't want to see aggressive mistakes that could lead

  13.:rofl: Thanks big guy. I need all the support I can get. One more mistake and Frobby will probably have me banned.

  14. You know what I mean, SB. The Nats are where we all expected to be this year. And a lot of O's fans expected the Nats to be where the O's are, if not worse.

  17. Reimold is making a little bit above the major league minimum, and has been worth 1.1 WAR in 297 PA. Willingham is making $6M this year and has been worth 1.8 WAR in 556 PA. Reimold projects to be a 2 WAR player for a full season then. Is there ANY remote reason WHATSOEVER why we should consider paying Willingham 10 times as much or more as Reimold for less (or equivalent) performance?

  18. As some of you know I make my living in politics. My colleague, Joe Trippi, ran the ill-fated Howard Dean campaign in 2004. While the campaign was unsuccessful it inspired a play (Farragytt North) and then a movie ("The Ides of March") about the machinations of the political process. Trippi has apparently seen both Moneyball and Ides of March and tweeted this just this morning: "Of two movies - 'Moneyball' and 'Ides of March' - turns out the baseball move is more like the Dean campaign." I thought that was pretty funny in the for what its worth department.

  19. Yes. Is his ceiling something like Rocco Baldelli. Let's establish a few things: first, I'm not comparing Davis to a 2002 Baldelli; second, that Baldelli was somewhat over-rated as a prospect. His power was solid, his patience pretty poor. He was toolsy, and scouts were enamored with that. For his MiLB career, he slashed .276/.326/.432. I'm not asking if Davis's top-side a .330/.370/.520 guy (the break out year that made Baldelli a top-5 prospect, I'm guessing), I'm asking if his ceiling is: a toolsy guys w/ + speed and moderate pop. In other words, a .280/.330/.420 kind of guy who can do

  20. Robert Andino has grown on me this year. I love his defense at second and would not mind seeing him kept there if we are able to beef up some other positions this offseason.

  22. Well, my wife came home today. She is doing as good as can be expected for someone just having major surgery 5 days ago. She will start her Chemo in about 6 weeks. Thanks once again for all good vibes and thoughts and prayers.
