  16. And asking a lot for him resulted in .... the Padres paying $3.4 million for Headley to be the starting 3B on their last place team. Schoop, despite his struggles this season, is a Top 100 prospect as a 20 year old middle infielder - not to mention the 2nd best position prospect in the organization. I'm not convinced Headley instead of Schoop would even be an improvement for our long term lineup, let alone factoring in the money that Headley will make in arbitration if he performs well.

  17. You're not paying him $15M. You're paying the prorated amount for 3 months. Then his option voids, you offer arb that he turns down, and you get some picks. You offer a couple B prospects for a rental and getting the Mets off the hook for the rest of this year and 2013.

  24. I think it's a case where people who had written him off prior to this season probably did so in large part by looking at the stats without the context of age and developmental curve. I don't think his probability is much better now than it was at the beginning of the year, but he was and is clearly still a prospect with a good chance to provide Major League value. I wouldn't put too much stock into numbers until maybe early June, but obviously good numbers are better than bad numbers. As far as what has changed, he continues to grow as a player. He is learning on the fly and has been doing i

  25. Yes he is, but he's a candidate to go top 5 this year too, and if someone takes him high enough he'll play. This first year in the new system you might see guys go to school because they just don't want to accept that the slots are the slots and teams aren't going to forfeit picks next year to sign someone this year, but that's going to happen up and down the first couple rounds. His dad has been throwing the UCLA card around an awful lot lately, but I think it's a negotiation ploy because it's not like he's not being mentioned in the top 10, I think if it's top 5 there is a better chance the

  26. The Yardbirds doing Train Kept A Rollin' (repurposed as Stroll On) in Blow-Up, FTW. [video=youtube;FEBkInSTa14] #1. It's The Yardbirds. #2. It's Antonioni. #3. Beck & Page during the five minutes they were in the band together. #4. Jeff Beck guitar demolition starting around the 1:30 mark. #5. They're not just on the soundtrack; they're actual actors in the scene.

  27. Dead Meadow Sleepy Silver Door The video has nothing to do with the song but when the choices are looking at the album cover for 7 minutes or a sword fight between Japanese girls dressed in schoolgirl and cowgirl outfits it is kinda a no brainer. <object style="height: 390px; width: 640px"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QBQnweVHNxI?version=3&feature=player_detailpage"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QBQnweVHNxI?version=3&feature=pl

  28. Why does this one swan hang out in my yard with the resident geese? The other swans stay in the water. My dog cares not, chasing all intruders from the lawn, indiscriminately eating waterfowl poop.

  29. Thanks for the support, everyone. We have him back home now. He obviously still needs a lot of care, particularly over the next two weeks or so, but the vet was pretty optimistic that he'd pull through. Just have to hope the stitches hold with no problem, because we really can't afford to put out any more money. A few people asked about the owners of the other dog. They did stop and apologize and said they hoped he was OK. I don't think they really had any idea just how bad he was, and in any event it was no fault of their own at all.

  30. It's only silly to people who aren't dog owners. My pups just celebrated their second birthday yesterday (brother/sister) -- I'd lose it if someone else's dog did any damage to them. Good luck.

  32. I'd pay it to. I can't imagine not doing whatever it takes to save my dog, Oreo. I'd like to know this too. Either way, I'd call animal control and report this immediately. I'd hate to separate a dog from its family, but if they are walking around with a ticking time bomb something has to be done.

  33. Man, I'm really sorry to hear this. That's awful. I really hope he pulls through for you and your boys. What did the owner of the other dog say to you after all of this? Something similar happend to me a while back (no injuries, thank goodnes, but I couldn't tell you how or why), and the owners basically said nothing.

  34. I couldn't have said it better also. Our animals are our family and you have my prayers for Wally. Please update us with a report when you're able. The last line says it all.
