  1. They felt the essay questions sent by Ohtani were too hard. They were hoping for multiple choice.

  2. o When 60 Minutes debuted in September of 1968 the Beatles were still a band, the Orioles had a new manager that had just replaced Hank Bauer two months earlier, the Colts had recently acquired a veteran quarterback that was in the midst of an MVP season, and the Bullets had just drafted a Consensus All-American out of the University of Louisville named Westley Unseld with the 2nd overall pick (incidentally, the first overall pick that was taken just ahead of Unseld by the San Diego Rockets was a forward named Elvin Hayes.) Here were are 5 decades later, and the progr

  5. Red Sox too. Looks like the Mariners, Giants and Orioles. Wait.... Ok, probably not the Orioles.

  6. Very interesting. It’s easy with 20/20 hindsight to say Dan inherited a good situation. I don’t think a lot of people felt that way in November 2011.

  9. Oh I fully agree with you, it's all about the money. I just meant that there's no way Colorado is sending us Brendan Rodgers in any deal. Unless it was some sort of sign-and-trade with Machado, which would also never happen.

  10. I don’t think the O’s used Rule 5 to save a few bucks. They used it to take a guy from another organization who they thought could help their team and maybe had some upside. The upside never really panned out, but Flaherty was OK as the utility guy.

  12. They can afford 3-5 million on a 1 year deal for a LH hitting OF. They could handle this off season well by being aggressive. They should get Cobb done fast, and be aggressive extending Manny. Once done with Cobb they could jump to Chatwood and the first four slots in the rotation is done. Once Manny is done extend Schoop before spring training. The plan should be if Manny doesn't happen go into deal mode and move Schoop, Britton, and Brach immediately. Honestly if I could get my asking price out of the Rockies for Britton he goes either way, and the same with Brach.

  15. I watched Ynoa in AAA (5-6 starts) and he was hurt significantly by poor defense at times. I think his fielding independent numbers are a better representation of the quality of his pitching. If you don’t put stock in those things, his ERA was much better in the second half.

  17. Well, the fact that he tried to get the Toronto job indicates to me he wants to continue to work in baseball. And I strongly disagree about him "sliding comfortably" into a TV or radio job. He is very I'll at ease with a microphone I front of him and, frankly, he doesn't have a personality that would make him desirable for TV or radio folks.

  19. Actually. It is not like that. If it were I would agree. Bad contracts run out. Young players get good. Bad teams get good draft picks. It's not like mold. It is like the weather. You have an idea. But you can't tell until it happens. It is definitely not like painting and carpeting a moldy home.

  20. One thing that has not been mentioned from Dan's interview. Dan said they have not found the solution to Tillman''s pitching problems. Sounds to me like they will not paid 6-10m to bring him back. If he will sign for a low base and incentives that don't lock the O's in if Tillman can't find it. Then the O's might be interested. Sounds like Dan wants to trade Trumbo. Hopefully for a veteran pitcher, probably on a bad contract. Seems like bringing lefty Smith back to be protection in case Hays isn't ready to start the season in right but otherwise to be a platoon DH is a pos
