  3. I felt much better about everything after reading Meoli’s article. It shows that John & Lou are being as thorough as possible and trying to learn as much as they can about the candidates and the processes of the organizations they currently work for (and what makes them successful). It seems clear that John & Lou want to have a modern-functioning organization, so if this means we have to wait another 2 weeks to find out who they hire, I’m okay with it. I’m just glad we finally heard something about the process and who they have interviewed or are planning to interview.

  5. Breathe in.....breathe out. It's ok. So you were yelling in the 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th too right? I mean Donnie Hart threw to 1 batter in the bottom of the 7th. Brach Threw the 8th and lasted one out into the 9th...Darren O'Day finished the 9th and the 10th. Brian Duensing got one out in the 11th before Ubaldo entered. My point isn't to say that Zach not pitching wasn't a mistake. Without question it was. But the Orioles had 4 hits in 11 innings and scored their only two runs in the 4th inning. And from Brach on...we were one pitch away from elimination. Buck rolled the dice ho

  8. Very nice article. It was interesting to read about his offensive adjustments and his conditioning. He seems to have a good head on his shoulders. On the short list of things I don’t worry about much regarding the future Orioles, the outfield is one. Between Hays, Diaz, Mullins, McKenna and Stewart, and knowing Mancini can play there if pressed and that Mountcastle may be moved out there, somewhere in that mix is a decent outfield in a couple of years. Maybe even a good one. Now I just need to think about is what else is on my short list of things I don’t worry about

  9. The new leadership needs to be able to decide who stays and goes. That’s all I’m saying. By the way, I don’t see the recent firings as purely a Duquette purge. For example, one of the O’s national cross-checkers, Matt Haas, was let go; the other, his brother Danny Haas, has been retained. You have to assume that decision was made by their boss, Gary Rajsich, who was a Duquette hire and is still there. The director of minor league operations, Kent Qualls, has not been let go so far as I know; he’s a Duquette guy. So, it certainly looks to me like someone is making these decision

  10. Hart is a LOOGY which gives him limited value. Plus the O's have some depth at lefties with Bleier, Fry, Scott in short relief and if they don't make the rotation Means and Rogers as long relief candidates. Then there is Akin who could be in the majors with a good first half at AAA. Gilmartin was just resigned to a minor league contract. Also Luis Gonzalez may not be protected in the Rule 5 but its a big question if any one thinks he could stay on the major league roster for 90 days. He will be 27 in January. There are 8 lefties that may be ahead of Hart (28) at this point because he

  11. Horacek looks like a steal as he put up strong numbers at AA. Gonzalez' speed/OBP skills would have made him nice depth . Mora would have been nice SS depth too. The rest we can live without.

  13. I think Brady’s heart is in the right place and he truly does care about what’s best for the Orioles. I don’t think anyone can really question that. The issue with Brady is that he appears to have carte Blanche to do whatever he wants without having to answer to anyone but ownership. And he seems to think his methods are the right way to do things if you want to become a successful major leaguer. Honestly, until the expose came out that he was at odds with Dave Wallace and Dom Chiti over the handling of Mike Wright, and that ownership essentially lets him interfere with player development

  16. I would add Andrew Susac and Mike Wright to your list as they have no options remaining for 2019. I think Rickard has one left, Caleb Joseph has one left. Beckham because of the cost. Susac, Wright and Beckham would be my three. If five are needed Add Rickard and Caleb Joseph.

  17. Unfortunately my info will be very muted going forward as my guy in no longer in the employ of the O’s as of Wednesday. He was very upset and frustrated by the incredible disfuction within the organization- too many cooks offering varied opinions often contrary to each other. One thing he did say a while back is our Tony has a real good incite to the inter working and disfunctions of the organization.

  22. Liriano was exactly the type of pitcher the Orioles lineup had had trouble with all season. Using him as a reliever was a great move by John Gibbons, a manager who had previously never impressed me. My guess is that Buck was playing for when Liriano wouldn't still be on the mound and the O's had a chance to score off a weak Jays pen. That was when Britton would be brought in--to outpitch the Jays pen. It's not what I would have done, what the other O's fans I watched the game with in the SRO O's bar in the East Village of NYC (The Horse Box) screaming for Britton to be brought in, or how

  29. I think Ynoa, if healthy, is a dark horse for a starting spot. He originally was a "steal" from the Mets. From 2013-2017, he threw a lot of innings. He also performed well at every level culminating in about 50+ MLB innings between 2016-17. I liked his performance in a few clutch situations. He doesn't seemed to get rattled to easily. He's more of a veteran than he seems at first glance. I'm very happy they brought him back, especially on a milb contract.

In 2019, the Baltimore Orioles are expecting to have another exciting season of MLB participation and we would love to have you fly away with us! We don't know who is in charge and we don't know who will be on the roster, but we are almost certain to be ready to go when the season arrives. We ask for your patience as we rebuild. 33. by CBoemmeljr @@CABoemmelJr The Baltimore Orioles participated in the Instructional League from September 20th through October 9th in Florida. Forty-six of the organization’s prospects participated as well as fourteen who attended a new strength and conditioning camp and three who attended a new hitting camp. Very little, if anything at all, is reported on concerning the Instructional League. Fans in Florida are able to attend the games so some anecdotal reports do reach both social media sites and internet message boards. I recently reached out to a few players, 2018 draftees

  34. Florida fans can attend the games but there are not many fans who actually show up and the games are very low key with liberal substitutions in all the games. The Orioles instructional roster was a healthy mix of 18 - 23 year old prospects and even one 24 year old. The takeaway from this list of players is that at the incoming side of the organization there are players that show great promise and certainly as they competed with like-skilled players from other organizations this fall, the Orioles seem to get suitable talent from their draft system to perform better than the MLB club did this

  36. Been listening a bit to the first R.E.M. LP (Murmur). Sunday was beautiful NC afternoon with temperatures in the low 60s. That record always made me think of Fall. And an additional tidbit, I found out this afternoon that it was confirmed I’ll be on a bill with their bassist Mike Mills at a show honoring the music of Big Star on December 15th in Carrboro NC (next to Chapel Hill). If you’re within driving distance, this will be an amazing show.

  37. Oh, come on. complaining that the ticket services office is doing their jobs as best they can is ridiculous. They have a job to do, they most likely won't be affected by the change at the top of baseball operations. And I imagine most season ticket holders would want more communication from them instead of less.

  38. That's a good point. Yet having a team full of one dimensional hitters is not a good idea, obviously. I think we were actually leading the league there for a bit with having quality arms in the pen to do just what you are saying. It's very interesting to see how the game gives and takes and the adjustments teams make to the changes.

  41. After listening to the audio here is what I came await with: 1. Diaz - Will be major league OFer. Can play all three fields. Hays has better arm in RF. McKenna is a better CFer. That makes Diaz the LFer. 2. Mountcastle - Can hit. Can't play 3B. LF/ 1B/ DH. With Diaz in LF and Mancini at 1B. He is the DH after Trumbo is gone. 3. DL Hall- TOR starter 4. Hays - RF in 2019 if healthy. Great arm 5. Rodriguez - TOR starter but far away 6. McKenna - Fast CFer. Lead off hitter. Good OBP. They were very high on him. 7. Kremer - #3 starter 8. Carmo
