  1. I will say it seems strange that Nunez doesn't have some trade value vs a DFA. His avg exit velocity really fell off last year but his WOBA has increased every year he's been with the Orioles to his career best .341 (MLB avg of .317) though his xWOBA fell to .301 (.321 MLB average) suggesting he was a little lucky last year. His defensive value really fell off to the point that he's a DH, which of course puts a lot of pressure on his bat. With Mancini returning, and Stewart needing everyday at bats and an outfield that is getting crowded in a good way (Mountcastle, Stewart, Hays, Santand

  2. Mayo says "If you told me (Adley) would be in Baltimore by the All Star break, I would have no trouble believing that." And Steve Melewski says Elias has indicated that Adley will begin the season at AA. I have not heard either of this things before. https://www.masnsports.com/steve-melewski/2020/11/talking-os-farm-with-mlbpipelinecoms-jonathan-mayo.html

  3. Yeah - aside from being the best player on the roster, there isn't much to like.

  4. The non tender date is December 2nd. 8 days away. It may provide insight into what the O's infield will look like is 2021. The O's have 7 salary arbitration eligible players. Mancini, Sanchez, Alberto, Santander, Severino, Valaika and Armstrong. Safe: Mancini and Santander will be offered arbitration. Elias does not have to negotiate their contracts before Dec 2nd. Worth the money: Armstrong has projections between 700k and 1m. He is probably worth the money so Elias probably offers him arbitration which will have little impact of the payroll. Elias needs to make

  5. Just caught a graphic in a segment on Springer's free agency showing Santander (+9.4% from 15.3 to 24.7) atop a leaderboard of Greatest Launch Angle Increase last year. I do generally understand this to be an outcome a hitter can move with intention.

  6. I hope Adley is all that he is advertised as. What a shot in the arm for this franchise that would be.

  7. Getting caught another time would put him out for a year... Wait, what did I just say?! Dose at will!

  8. A sub 750 OPs in almost 3000 at bats in the minors combined with very mediocre major league time and him getting ready to turn 27 doesn’t exactly instill confidence in me that he is about to break out.

  9. DJ Stewart isn't any good We don't know if Diaz is any good Santander looks like he will be a good player who is enjoyable to watch who will be around for the next 4 seasons if we want him.

  10. I cannot imagine how Cot’s projects Sanchez at $4 mm. We’re talking about a guy who was non-tendered in 2019, was signed to a minor league deal by the Giants and later released, then was signed to a minor league contract by the White Sox and released again. If the O’s offer him any kind of major league deal he should jump at it.

  11. I would be surprised too. I expect him in Baltimore around the second half of the season.

  12. I will apologize in advance for the opinion I'm about to voice but CD's MLB career is over and has been for about 5 years and he is here now because they (bros Angelos) hope to save some money in 2021 if games are cancelled. CD's latest line about his experience in TX is pure BS. he came here and continued to fail, spending countless hours in the weight room and batting cage, practicing the same thing that failed in TX. Then in 2011 or 2012 or so our then hitting coach got thru to him and they went back to basics, literally hitting off a tee to get him to stay closed and go the other way. It t

  13. No, no he doesn’t. And that is the point. For him to be productive, he needs to be in the lineup regularly with at around 400 at bats. He is not a guy that can sit for a week and grab a bat, get in the box and have good timing. He would be taking those at bats from young players we need to keep developing and Mancini.

  14. The only interesting question here is, how does this compare with previous off-season comments that Davis has made? It is laughable that every spring he shows up and offers some variation of the,” last year was bad this year will be better because I have changed” comment. It’s BS, he knows it, we know he knows it and he knows we know it. Mike too. But nobody’s gonna say it out loud. I swear, “the emperors new clothes” is perhaps the most encompassing fable of all time. Because that’s what we’ve got here.

  15. You say you've read enough of THIS but then you go and start the Chris-Davis-swing-change-can-of-worms thread that will be on its 35th page by the time spring training starts?

  16. I don't have any personal animosity toward RZNJ. It's a message board.

  17. I continue to insist that the organization would not make stupid moves over such an insignificant amount of money. It is not hyperbole so say that the savings are negligible, and if Nunez had value, he would have been retained. The team gave Iglesias ~3.5 million because-wait for it-he has value, being the best SS in the system and being essentially irreplaceable at the moment. Again, same song second verse, Nunez offers nothing we don’t already have, and his roster spot is best use for someone more versatile.

  18. It's basic economic principle. How can I get the most utility and value from the money I spend? What is the most effective way of doing that?
