  1. Win 3 Cy Youngs, 3 World Series and a WS game in 3 decades and you can be as arrogant as you want. Palmer rules.

  2. As a general rule, I am not the board's biggest fan of these threads. But I think it is a fair Look Closer exception if it is a 23-year-old Dodger who has made the show, and is just getting on/near to the wire because Justin Turner's leg gave out and that club has to adapt to avoid playing a man down with their season on the line. (Also, Friedman still didn't pick David Price.) Where my rules knowledge runs out is if this guy has to go through the National League, or if the game 162 gift from Meat Sauce means we have first dibs. And if Designated for Assignment even means he's

  3. Baltimore Orioles @Orioles The next generation inspiring the next generation. @RutschmanAdley was in Portland, Oregon over the weekend, where he teamed up with @USABaseball to host a free youth baseball clinic!

  4. That's our Evan Phillips, who came over with Zimmerman, Cumberland, and Encarnacion for Gausman and O'Day, pitching second for the Dodgers behind Joe Kelly the opener. Faced four Braves, K'd three of them. No hits, no runs, now pinch-hit for. Phillips had a great K/Innings ratio for the Orioles, but also walked way too many batters. Glad he may have found a niche with the Dodgers.

  5. The same David Price that's warming the bench while Evan Phillips is on the mound? Id rather try and get EP back.

  6. No one is "in a hurry" with Hall. He was drafted in 2017. He's 23. This will be his 5th full year after being drafted. He's been dominant every step of the way. He's not a finished product by any means, especially with the high BB rate, but that can be improved upon at the MLB level as well as at the MiLB level. If healthy, there's no reason he shouldn't start 2022 in AAA and be up shortly after Rodriguez. Unless the Orioles are going for the #1 pick again next year.

  7. I’d prefer Stroman to Price, but I’m not sure either is a possibility.

  8. Yea but what do the Pads have to show for it? Clevinger got hurt. Snell struggled with his control and Darvish had an ERA over 4 and pitched under 170 innings. Im not saying these were bad moves by them but just because they are established doesn’t mean they are the best way to go. Give me the cheaper, younger arms. When it comes to pitching, since it’s so fragile, I don’t think there’s a best way to do it. You get as much as you can and hope for the best.

  9. I have no problem with McKenna as a backup defensive outfielder. Just don't expect much from his offense if Hays or Santander are injured. The O's need to give Mateo playing time at SS/2B to see what he can offer. The infield is thin even if they add a Galvis or someone similar. Mateo is fast and he can run around the outfield but I think the infield is his future if he can take advantage of the opportunity given him.

  10. I agree with you about McKenna, especially offensively. But if you compare him to Stewart, at least McKenna has speed and defensive ability. Stewart has neither. McKenna can be used as a late inning defensive replacement, and as a pinch runner. Stewart can't be. So even with his limited offensive contributions, McKenna should be kept instead of Stewart. If the need should arise for a fifth outfielder, Mateo could be at least a short-term solution.

  11. I have to agree completely. He will be 28 next month. He has not done anything to keep his 40 man spot over several younger guys with actual upside. Stewart was supposed to have some OBP, which he does because he walks. BA does not mean very much these days, but his line for his career is .214/,329/.403/.732. How much longer are we supposed to give him? His K% in 2020 was 33.9, which was slightly improved in 2021 at 28%. He had a 94 WRC in 2021 as opposed to a very respectable 123 in 2020, albeit a SSS and propped up by a hot 10 days. He is a terrible OF, evidenced by his -9 DRS in 2021, accor

  12. GREAT thing about Boston... as much as their offense can light up the scoreboard, their PITCHING can light it up with the worst of them too!!! LOL!!! NOTSFW!!!!!!!!!!!

  15. Meyer was the only pitcher I would have taken when we took Kjerstad. If we can get him, I would like to. Im certainly open to listening to an offer for Mullins being built around him.

Best wishes for a full recovery for the young man.

  17. He obviously isn't taking the fanbase's desires into consideration. Which he shouldn't. The idea is to create an organization that can maintain competitiveness over an extended period. Drafting high school players can be a part of that. Also HS players selected 1-1 tend not to spend an extended period of time in the minors.

  20. Well Machado should’ve been dealt the offseason before but somehow we were still going for it with a team that actually won 47 games. The only thing bad I could say about what DD did in the Machado trade, is that he should’ve gotten more A ball players versus trying to get players that were closer to being ready. However, The Dodgers had just spent $50+ million on Diaz, Pop was 20, and Kremer was leading all of milb in SO.

  21. I'm 45 minutes in. It's a good interview. I love Adam Jones as much as anyone else. But he's about 10 years away from being a guy doing commentary on a broadcast and annoying the hell out of the audience like Joe Morgan, Tim McCarver, etc with the "back in my day" type of attitude.

  22. Hey Sportsfan; Thank you for the compliments. So there are 3 DSL guys in Florida now. 17 year old Samuel Basallo received $1.3 million. The biggest bonus of the Elias Era. He was expected to sign with the Yankees. He was very good batting .239/.338/.410 for a .748 OPS. 5 homers, 8 doubles. Now in Instructional League. Led Orioles 1 in homers and RBIs 17 year oldShortstop Maikol Hernandez received $1.2 million. He hit .231/.340/.308 for a .647 OPS. No homers, only 4 for 7 in steals. He is in the Instructional League so they still believe in him. 17 year old 3rd base

  23. I would be pleasantly surprised if Willem made Delmarva. I'm not sure why it took him so long to get started and why they shut him down so quickly, but his struggles in his limited playing time suggest he might be more of a long term project vs a fast mover. My guess he will be on one of the FCL teams next year.

  24. I didn’t even know this position existed, though I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. https://www.masnsports.com/videos/2021/10/os-minor-league-mental-skills-coordinator-kathryn-rowe-joins-masn-all-access.html In the interview, it’s mentioned that Gunnar Henderson gave her a shout out when he was interviewed about the adjustments he had to make at Aberdeen. Here’s what Henderson said: “Now, looking back on it, I was trying to change things every day, and it just all turned when I was talking to Kathryn Rowe (the Orioles’ mental skills coordinator). She helped me with all that and

  26. So, so sorry to hear of this. Seeing this after reading the discussion of the new Athletic article (and reading that) in that the thread about Mancini's mid-season 2021 scare. Wishing him every good outcome possible for this development. Love to him and his loved ones as he works and fights through this.

  29. If the player is not a top prospect, having a pulse and being able to throw the ball in the vicinity of the place suffices. For a top prospect, ability to go 7 innings in 90 pitches or less, displaying four plus pitches will get you close.

  30. The thing about Adam Is that he comes across as genuine. He’s not one of these arrogant jerks like “well, you remember that I never gave up a grand slam” Palmer who reminds us every single chance he gets, and shares memories like a king distributes largesse. Adam is just a guy telling stories. I wonder how he’d be as a broadcaster?
