  1. I know it's only the first official ST game, but geez what an inauspicious start for the O's and especially the pitching.
  2. At the very least, I would hope they end up naming it something like 'Chevrolet Field at Wrigley'. It'd be nice to keep Wrigley in the name somehow.
  3. True. But the NL East is a far cry from the AL East.
  4. We really need to send this thread over to the guys at FJM. They would have a field day with it.
  5. You beat me to it! I am surprised it took this long for Mr. Baseball to show up in this thread. I'm not sure if the portrayal of Japanese baseball was entirely accurate, but I still found it interesting nonetheless. It's just one of those movies that if I notice it's on, I'll stop and watch it. Also, Dennis Haysbert (Pedro Cerrano, David Palmer) is in it. While his character was not nearly as interesting as he was in Major League, it's still cool to see him in another baseball movie.
  6. Honestly, this sounds more believeable than anything else I've heard tonight.
  7. You've been very credible in the past, and what you're saying makes logical sense so far. I'll be curious to hear if you have any additional info that you could share with us at a later time.
  8. Hey man, check my posts. I'm right here with you! While everyone else seems to be on this insane roller coaster ride, I'm hanging out watching from the sidelines just enjoying the scene :002_sbiggrin: At the end of the day, this isn't life or death. It's baseball.
  9. That's all we've got. Unless you count the conjecture contained in the Sun's report and what Rosenthal is saying. I'm still not sold on any of it. I am well aware of Angelos' history, but this isn't passing the sniff test for me.
  10. Another quick point. Why are we getting so crazy about this? All we have to go on so far tonight is speculation from a couple of insiders and their 'sources' that PGA has nixed this deal. We have media reports from the Sun and Rosenthal that also "hint" at this, but it's nothing but pure conjecture at this point as well. No offense meant to the insiders, but they've been correct less than 1% of the time this off-season. Heck, just last night this was a done deal! This is not meant to be a knock against the insiders, but it's obvious at this stage of the game that NO ONE really knows the true story. Forgive me for not jumping off the ledge quite yet, but I'm going to keep an open mind for now and wait until I hear concrete proof of what's going on.
  11. I still say this deal goes down. I don't think that Angelos has "vetoed" anything. I believe he simply hasn't given his complete approval as of yet. Now exactly what this hinges on (player physicals, his snail-like decision making process, etc.) who knows? I say we at least give it to the end of the week before we start sharpening the pitchforks and lighting the torches. Let's just let this crazy thing play out, and enjoy the ride
  12. Guys, calm down. This is so obvious. MLB doesn't want us to steal the thunder when this is supposed to be Goose Gossage's day in the spotlight. Oh, wait...

    "I could care less"

That's it! Good catch. SG is a notorious offender, and I've even seen Tony do it on occasion. I can't think of anyone else off the top of my head. Sorry to call you guys out!

    "I could care less"

Well I've seen it done in "typing", if that's what you're asking. I've never actually seen it written that way, but if someone types it that way I'm sure it happens.

    "I could care less"

It really irks me when people confuse "worse" and worst". An example: "Luis Hernandez would be the worse SS we have ever had." I just don't understand how people can screw that up, and I've seen some otherwise very intelligent people do so.
  16. Alright, I confess. I'm Alejandro Freire.
  17. I don't quite understand this sentence either, but I'll take your word for it! At this point, I'm just going to wait for things to happen and make my judgments then.
  18. Exactly. No team has ever won a 0-0 game. You can prevent all the runs in the world, but it won't mean diddly-squat if you don't score any.
  19. I love you man, but you're all over the place lately. Less than 36 hours ago, you said this: http://forum.orioleshangout.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1165985&postcount=127 So, exactly what has happened in the last day and a half that caused you to completely flip your position? I'm just trying to get some clarification.
  20. Well, it's called "fantasy" baseball for a reason. It's not real, and it's not saber-based either. It's just simple fun for the competition aspect of it. Knowing which categories are most important to winning, you build your team that way. The fact that OPS and defense isn't involved doesn't make it any less fun. However, this does bring up an interesting point. I wonder if there are any fantasy baseball leagues out there that take more saber-based stats into account? Things such as OPS+, ERA+, etc...
  21. Default fantasy baseball leagues typically use 5 categories each for Batting and Pitching. Batting categories include Runs, Homeruns, RBI's, Stolen Bases, and Batting Avg. Pitching categories are Wins, Saves, K's, ERA, and WHIP. Each category carries the same weight, ie stolen bases are just as important as HR's. Unless you are in a custom league, this is how most fantasy baseball leagues are run.
  22. I'm just here to point how amusing I find it that a thread about Luis Hernandez has spawned a heated debate regarding fantasy baseball. Only on the OH!
  23. Because through 24 AB's in playoff winter ball he has a .333 batting average? You can't be serious. What about that .217 AVG throughout the regular season? Or even better, his career .299 OBP in the minors? I really shouldn't feed the trolls...
  24. LH as a potential fantasy option is comedy gold. And this writer is the Sun's supposed fantasy "expert"? Honestly, I think you'd be better off leaving the SS slot empty as opposed to putting Hernandez there.
  25. I am so sorry Cindy. I will definitely keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.
