  1. And he never has admitted that the O's have been correct virtually every time with their assessments. Just taking shots at PA and the O's. What an unbiased source...Frank Wren who PA fired after one awful year.
  2. I couldn't agree more. He takes shots whenever given the opportunity and sometimes when he's not given the opportunity, he creates one. He was one of the biggest bashers when the medicals nixed the Balfour deal.... and when they were proven correct was he a stand up guy and admit that he was wrong...no it was more like even a broken clock is right twice a day. He is not alone. I breeze through more than half these posts because they are the same old thing by the same old posters who do nothing but bash the FO, DD, Buck, Brady and PA. It's just a complete waste of time. We all get it...you don't have to include it in every two or three posts. It doesn't add anything to the conversation and makes large threads unreadable. This board is a good resource but certain posters really negatively affect it by posting the same thing over and over and over. I guess that's how you rack up thousands of posts.
  3. While this is a true statement... I can't imagine that any team would have traded a franchise player coming off a wild card berth. Hindsight is 20/20 and I am sure that there were people on the board suggesting just that, as there has been pretty much since he established himself. Just as there has been people saying he should be extended. Hindsight is 20/20 but I can't blame them for not trading him 2 years ago. He didn't have a good year last year and I am sure his value was down this past off season. I don't know what kind of offers they got this off season so I can't say they would have gotten more for him then or now based on his MVP caliber first half. There are examples of rentals bringing back very good returns mid season so who knows. So to say he absolutely would have gotten a better package in the off season is opinion and not fact as often portrayed here. I KNOW that they constant drum beat that they should have done this 2 years ago and they should have done that 6 months ago makes this board hard to read sometimes. I find myself skimming through certain posters or skipping them entirely now. Most of the posters have great insight and I enjoy reading more than posting but this is getting monotonous.
  4. I love the baseball tournament more so than any other college event (including so called March Madness). The competition is tremendous and heart that these kids play with is unprecedented. Personally, I don't think that any changes are needed. The colleges have no obligation to the pro teams and vise versa. I don't think that a college team can do anything to abuse a player/pitcher after he has been drafted to cause a career ending injury. It's what they've done to them long-term that can lead to that. Teams should know that history before the draft. Let the kids play for something that they've worked for fo a long, long time and then sign. This is a solution looking for a problem to me.
  5. I have the same perception of him but, I never really was able to put my finger on it until I saw your post. Maybe that is why I reacted the way I did to the OP. I really don't know the man at all but, there is just something that strikes me as "soft" or "whiney" although he also seems like a genuinely nice man.
  6. Any or all of what I said may be true or it may be false...We'll never know. I was replying to a question as to why JD would be upset. It was pure conjecture on my part...which is what "we" do on this board however, most state that conjecture as fact.
  7. I can think of several reasons. 1. He doesn’t like PA after he got canned. 2. He’s a analyst now and needs to stay relavent. 3. He didn’t like the way DD was treated when he wanted to go to Toronto. 4. He’s just a petty individual who can’t get a job inside baseball anymore. It’s not like DD has fed him any major insights or scoops about the O’s.
  8. Signed for $20,000, as did the 9th rounder. $20,000 must be the new $10,000.
  9. Got the impression from his quote at CWS that he's signing. He said that he's focused on the CWS and that he will begin with the "pros" afterwards. I am paraphrasing.
  10. Because he wants to go to the highest bidder..or to a major media market...period...end of discussion.
  11. Flanagan was a PA guy through and through. Widely reported that they had a very close relationship.
  12. He served his suspension and lost money from likely being on the ML roster this year out of camp. He paid the price as prescribed. Time to move on.
  13. Perhaps it is Duquette that has said he doesn't want to stay (that's what most on the board said after he was not allowed to leave for Toronto). Perhaps he knows and agrees that the O's need to find his replacement. Perhaps, they are looking to dive deep into the international market and the are looking at Colletti to assist DD in that effort. Perhaps the collective "we" have no idea what "we" are talking about and are spouting off about stuff "we" can only guess at. It's call the "Hangout Way"
  14. I don't recall it that way. I remember Mike being distraught that he was not able to return the O's to greatness (viewed himself as a failure)...I don't recall him ever saying that he was mistreated. I remember a lot of other folks saying that after his death.
  15. That's always my worry. Not a dig at DD but, I am always worried about trading for prospects. It's almost as much of a crap shoot as the draft. Can we get AM back just to make those trades 😎
  16. I think the O's have to be open to trading anyone. Bundy will likely be gone via FA before we compete again. It's better to move a player a year early, then a year late.
  17. Really, that's surprising to me. I thought Jay had a pretty good defensive reputation. I should probably look at the metics a little more.
  18. You certainly could be right. I do recall us being linked to Jay in the past as well. Perhaps he preferred to stay in the mid-west since he was with St. Louis for several years.
  19. Is there any evidence (source) that says that the O's chose Rasmus over Jay? That is a sincere question, I am not trying to be snarky. Perhaps Jay didn't want to come here. It takes both sides to do a deal.
  20. I can not disagree with this statement more. There are many ways to eliminate various constraints that sap arm strength. I've seen it many, many times.
  21. Logan Gilbert is a Florida Baseball Ranch Guy. I think he would be a good pick. I know that the Rays are a big believer in the Baseball Ranch. It will be interesting to see if they take him at their pick if he's still there.
  22. Strom is very involved at the Texas Baseball Ranch and they are a very forward thinking group. I know that Verlander and many, many others have benefited from their programs. I am a big believer in the TBR and the Florida Baseball Ranch. My son went to FBR two years ago to rehab after labrum surgery and they not only got him back healthy, they worked on his movement patterns so he remains pain free for the first time in his life. He went to TBR last summer and again had a jump in velocity and remains healthy. I know that the Rays are a big believer in the FBR and have the FBR staff at their spring training. I think this is a big reason for both organizations success with pitchers.
  23. They were likely concerned about the 26 pitches in the first inning. No need to push him at this point.
