    Jake Arrieta

Jake Arietta is trying to prove that he is the real deal. Jake is 3-1 on the year for the Cubbies with a miniscule 1.98 ERA after today's gem. His last three starts: 6IP, 0 ER, 7 strikeouts 7IP, 0 ER, 9 strikeouts 7IP, 1 ER, 11 strikeouts (today). That feldman trade does not look very pretty right now considering we had Feldman for three months and Clevenger is the minors.
  2. @AndrewRickli: Welcome to #Birdland @ErvinSantana_54 The plot thickens!
  3. Game of cat and mouse. Ervin could be telling his agent to get him a guaranteed fourth year or he is gone. Ervin has got to be frustrated at this point. Nolasco Garza Ubaldo Ervin May just wait it out...
  4. Where are all these high school and college kids getting their sources from? Boggles my mind they all have between 10 any 20 thousand twitter followers and can't legally drink a beer but have "inside sources".
  5. What throws me off the most is that he looks like a teenager (at most) in his twitter picture. I'm all for 3/36 and a team option. Tillman Ubaldo Ervin Chen Johan/M gonzo/Gausman
  6. Has an MLB Blog called Outside Pitch MLB. Looks like he had Johan news a bit early. Obviously take FWIW . OH friend Andrew rickli retweeted him.
  7. Agreed on not going 4 years. If o's are bidding against themselves , And have offered in the 3/30+ range, DD won't go 4 years if there is no other real suitor out there for Ervin. I hope we get it done for 3 years.
  8. Unsure how to copy and paste a twitter link but FWIW: @MaxWildsteinMLB: Source: #Orioles are the front runners for P Ervin Santana, as they could get deal done this week and it doesn't seem like he'll wait it out @MaxWildsteinMLB: Source: #Orioles front office has coveted him for a while and love the durability, they loved Ubaldo's durability and Ervin is more durable @MaxWildsteinMLB: Source: P Ervin Santana's agency (Performance) wants 4 years, if #Orioles want him they might go to 4 like they did with P Ubaldo Jimenez
  9. Anybody know if/when the Orioles will be selling Opening Day tickets through their box office? I vaguely remember them not selling any last year.
  10. We won 93 games this year. 93 'one game playoffs' if you will. I am just as anxious as the next guy about tonight, but let's remember, this is just one game and the Orioles won 93 this year, so there is no reason for us to think that we can't do it again tonight. At the end of the day, baseball is the same game these guys have been playing their whole lives, just a bit more pressure and on a bigger stage, but still the same game all of the O's have played since they were kids. Have some faith.
  11. The key for me is 'never too high, never too low'. It is easy to get high on the O's after they take 4 of 6 on the road from TB and NYY, then come home and win the first two vs Seattle at home, with a crazy extra inning win included. However, then the O's lose a few and it feels like reality (whatever it may be) is settling back in. I think that is why this season has been fun for me. Not knowing what the Oriole's reality truly is and all of us waiting for the reality to become negative, but the O's winning keeps it positive. It will take a few quality above .500 seasons in a row to change the culture of waiting for something bad to happen, but I am glad we can all enjoy this season for what it is: a young team going through ups and downs that is extremely exciting and finds a way to win.
  12. Agreed. We let the Angels have him during his prime, not that it would have made a big difference in our W-L. This time I think he would make a big difference. Impact bat, who could play 140 games and stay healthy with the depth of our bench.
  13. New updated article on mlbtraderumors.com on vladi and manny. would LOVE this move...we regretted not signing him last year, let's take a shot this year. 'Manny Ramirez and Vladimir Guerrero may not be on our free agent list much longer. Enrique Rojas of ESPNDeportes hears from various sources that both players are moving toward deals (link in Spanish). One source tells Rojas that Ramirez is likely to sign by the beginning of next week. The Angels, Twins, Rangers, Rays and Blue Jays have shown some interest in Ramirez, but Minnesota just added Jim Thome and is no longer interested. The Angels, Rangers and Rays are pursuing him most aggressively. Rojas hears that Manny wants to prove himself after a disappointing season; money, it seems, is not the slugger's primary concern. A person close to Guerrero told Rojas that the Orioles have the inside track on signing him, but the Angels are another possibility.'
  14. So I don't know too much about high school/college baseball, and I will just go ahead and assume that we will finish with the worst record in baseball this year...If this is the case, are there any huge phenoms that we would have the chance to draft at the #1 spot? No Bryce Harper-esque players I assume.
  15. does anybody know what time they are supposed to post the video?
