  1. This provides some insight as to why Jimmy Paredes is no longer on the team!
  2. Yes, this team can win a championship as currently constructed if: 1. Tillman/Gausman continue to pitch well and; 2. Either Ubaldo has a few months of "Good Ubaldo" OR Gallardo comes back strongand; 3. We get competence out of the 4 and 5 spot in the rotation (like, 5 innings/4runs competence).
  3. Maybe he needs a "depth expert" to sit next to him in the booth, who upon impact can quietly give him a thumbs up if it's a probable home run or a thumbs down if it's a probable out!
  4. Thanks for this perspective. I think that, mostly, I'm just sad that this very likeable Orioles team is done playing baseball in 2014.
  5. There were a lot of kids out there last night. My kids' elementary school sold tickets and there were 500 of us there. Maybe there were a bunch of other schools doing the same thing? Anyway, it was a great crowd. I was expecting not many people and a letdown from the team (which would have been understandable). I should have known better than to expect anything less than 100% effort from this team.
  6. I think this organization, as currently constructed, is much better equipped to handle the year-to-year turnover than it has been in a long time. It might be a long time before we see an O's team with an 8 game lead in mid-August, but I am confident that this will remain a competitive team for years to come. Also, as everyone else says, enjoy the ride. This is fun, ain't it? We have come a long way:
  7. There are a lot of us out there who grew up on the MD side of DC during the period when there was no baseball team in Washington and no football team in Baltimore. I am an Orioles and Redskins fan.
  8. People often throw that clich? around, and I don't understand how it has merit. What is it about people that have office jobs that renders them less demonstrative at sporting events?
  9. Man, that was a fun night! By the way, I was looking for that thread a few days ago and couldn't find it. Can someone post a link?
  10. I wish we wouldn't buy into the "proven closer" hype -- just collect as many solid and fairly-priced relievers (i.e. Webb) as possible, and let other organizations overpay for closers.
  11. Today, the fat lady is singing "Orioles Magic."
