  1. If you look at the history of the club, from 1954-1991 the Orioles have not drawn that many fans. And from 66-83, when they were probably one of the best clubs in baseball, they only averaged around 1.2M fans per year. And many of those years they were at, or below league average in attendance. I think the early years of OPACY was far from the norm, and that 2-2.5 million fans is about what they can expect to see on a regular basis.....http://www.baseball-almanac.com/teams/baltatte.shtml

  2. You almost have to feel sorry for BV. I mean his team is stabbing him in the back. He will figure if he hasnt already that coming back to manage this bunch of losers is not worht the headaches. I think this bunch of Joes are worse than the Yanks.

I watched the post game on NESN last night and he looked and sounded like a beaten man.

  3. Just playing. But yeah the Orioles have beaten their peripherals all year, if you will.

There has to be other examples of this stuff, I just don't have the time/ patience to figure it out. But the Orioles are doing something very weird. Calling it luck seems like a cop out to me. Over the course of a month, or even two, sure I'll buy luck. But they have been doing this all season so there has to be an explanation in the numbers and game logs to explain it.

It's one game at a time. Worrying about today's game and only today's game. Not resting on the teams past success and not dwelling on their past failures. IMO, I think thats the key to this season success.

  4. Sounds right.

It leaked fuel while sitting on the ground. Once it was in the air, everything would come up to temperature, o rings would swell up, and seat, then the leaking would stop. You can see one at the Air and Space Mueseum at Dulles airport. To this day, it's still the fastest airplane ever. Not bad for being built in the 50's.

  5. I agree 100%. The chance of Duquette screwing up is enormous. Personally, I think he is as clueless as they come. In fact, I'm starting to feel the same about Showalter. And we already know that Angelos has his head in the sand. The truth is, we are already done this year....the team is in free-fall and no trade is going to save it. So, rather than trying to salvage this year with futile trades for rental players,, and in the process forfeit the future, we should be making trades for the best near ML-ready prospects we can get.

Couldn't agree more. This team needed help weeks ago, and DD went out and got. Jim Thome. Nice, real friggin nice.

Dan Duquette just told SiriusXM that the Orioles will need top of the lineup help as it looks like Roberts will be out a long time.

Figured as much. He wouldn't be getting a second opinion if it was something that could just be rehabed. It's time to shut him down and start focusing on 2013.

  7. Carpenter tries to hard. His broadcasts almost seem rehearsed. As far as Jim Hunter goes, he does a much better job on the radio where he has to stick to the task at hand, describing the game and giving stats . It's when he's on TV and he has to fill time is where he starts to lose me.

  8. That reminds me: What was your biggest mark-out moment ever?

Because mine was -definitely- the debut of Brock Lesnar.

Starcade 87. Dusty Rhodes ddt's Lex Luger on a chair inside a steel cage to win the US Heavyweith belt. It was Thanksgiving night, and I think we paid 6 bux to see it on PPV at the Civic Center.

  9. WHat is the other choice? The team has no top first baseman prospects. Do they even have a legitimate slugger in the system? You have to take chances when you want to improve. Fielder seems like a low risk chance to take. If all you are worried about is signing Wieters and Jones for the future than you have no hope. You need to make the team better to increase revenue. The team needs stars.
When your forking out the kind of money its going to take to get Fielder here, , thats a very high risk.
