  1. If you count Murray, then you need to count Todd Zeile who it 20 with Phil before coming over. The other really crazy stat about that team? If Hammonds hits one more and Devereaux 2 more, that would give you 10 guys with at least 10 home runs. I don't think that's ever been done before
  2. For those of us in Camp Fire Sale, this thread is really depressing. Also completely ironic since Roy was our one of our founders years ago.
  3. Cheaper? not really. I haven't flown out to the east coast just for a ballgame yet (long ways from SFO) which means I've never been to OPACY. I'm way overdue and catching the Preakness as well is a no-brainer.
  4. The stars are aligning for me so it looks like I'll fly out for the May 20 game vs Toronto. That's the same weekend as the Preakness so I'll catch them both if possible. I can't seem to find the thread for visitors, so I'm looking for a good recommendation for hotel and dinner on Saturday near the ballpark- seems like a bunch of good hotels are nearby. Thanks in advance! sfosfan
  5. Great topic. So many directions this team to go. There were probably two main issues I had with the O's last offseason, and I'm hoping the mistakes are not repeated: 1) putting a band aid on the rotation by signing Gallardo and Worley. Then getting Miley, another enigma kind of pithcer- we don't need more of these. 2) Giving up on home grown talent in favor of rentals. So, to avoid # 1 I don't want to see a rotation of Ubaldo, Gallardo or Miley. One of the three in the #5 spot is about all I can stomach. As for #2, I'd like to see Sisco and Boom Boom have a spot ont the team. Mancini might be hard to find room for since Crush is at first and I'm thinking Trumbo gets resigned. But if Trubmo doesn't stick around, I could see Mancini picking up lots of that production. Sisco too would seem at least better than Joseph. Not so sure what to do with the starters though. Wilson and Wright would seem better suited for the pen to start, but the pen is crowded. Should definitely be interesting this offseason!
  6. I'm hoping this happens. Tillman, Bundy and Gausman are fine. I could probably tolerate one of the remaining three as the #5 starter, but if more than one is in the rotation, I'll be disappointed. Not sure i want someone new in spots #3-#4. I'd love another #2 or #3 guy and put Bundy at #4 to start. That would be a nice solid staff, regardless of who gets the #5 spot.
  7. Absolutely not true. Zack can give up one more run- as long as he pitches 10.2 more innings, then he'll still break the record. :beerchug1:
  8. Actually JD, I was also wondering the same thing. Last I read was that Bundy wasn't going to throw his cutter this year. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for next year though- the cutter was talked about as Bundy's best pitch. Bundy being so good without it now, I can't wait to see it next year (hopefully). At least throw it enough to put in the hitter's head.
  9. I disagree. Makes no sense to use Ubaldo in a tight game that goes extra innings. Why waste such a good effort by the bullpen today by bringing in Ubaldo? He's either coming into the game during a blowout or not at all.
  10. During the game today, there was some talk about Buck saying that Bundy could be a starter sooner rather than later. I took that to mean Bundy may be starting at some point later this year. I can't wait to see that. :smile11:
  11. Definitely! I forgot about that. But Gallardo still kept pitching and his velocity kept dropping, until he finally went on the DL. I guess the doctors are also somewhat at fault here too, but didn't take over 3 weeks before going on the dl? You would think someone should have said something sooner, not just restructure a contract. But at least it seems fixed, and that's exactly what this staff needed right now.
  12. Gallardo did have shoulder tendinitis, and given that his velocity is back up over 90mph I'd be confident the injury was real. Gallardo probably had the issue for awhile and just didn't say anything about it. Hopefully he's learned his lesson.
  13. So much for the term "pitcher friendly" park when the O's come to town. Even Kim goes deep.
  14. Yep, that's the problem. You could trade Wieters for some good starters, but they won't be starters at the mlb level. If we were in last place an looking to rebuild, then Trade Matty for some future studs. But not when you're in first place.
  15. I voted yes because they're in first now and it's almost the half way point in the season. Seems like a lot of people who voted no are assuming the other teams int he East will step up- but they all have problems too. I'm fine with Tillman-Gausman-Wilson-Gallardo-? as the rotation for now, but I do want another top guy to help win in the playoffs. Winning the division shouldn't just be the goal, but it's a start.
  16. Just wanted to agree with the OP- stay the course with everyone but Jimenez. Especially after today's game watching Tyler shred the Sox! Want a huge confidence builder to do that on the road. This is how man crushes get started. :hearts:
  17. We'll see. If Roy had started this thread then it woul definitely happen. Roy is the Master of the Reverse jinx.
  18. Hasn't KG shown more than enough to be living on hope? Era is just fine and he always seems to give the team a good chance to win. I have zero faith in 2/5 and still have a little for Wilson. Tyler's era is 4.7+ but his whip is under 1.3 which seems really odd. Something's gotta give there, and I am hoping his good whip continues and the era starts to drop as a result. Not ready to throw in the towel on Tyler yet.
  19. Ditto. Great minds think alike, but we only need just one thread.:agree:
  20. "Overhaul" may not be the right word, but it's close. 1/2 the pitchers have era's over 5.00 and only two starters look ok. But the O's are in first (or close to it after today) and the bats will keep them closer to the top than the bottom. I don't think the O's can just sit back for much longer and hope certain people get if figured out. Nor do I buy the theory that there is nothing on the farm. I see Oliver, Rove and Drake looking pretty solid and think at least they could be added to the pen to replace all the lefties not named Britton. Which is anohter thing, why NOT go without a lefty in the pen other than the closer? If they can't get it done, bring in anyone else who can! Anyways, seeing 8 walks yesterday in a game NOT pitched by Jimenez, only to be followed by Jimenez, is making me sick. I hope to see some changes soon. sfosfan
  21. Are you doubting that Kevin can be a big time pitcher for the O's? 1) He's young and doesn't have a long history at this level yet, 2) What else does he need to do to get a win? Especially with this offense. Just really bad luck so far, but not something to be worried about- see reason #1.
  22. Oh now you've done it- the dreaded c word when it comes to pitching prospects. Move over Forney, Klingenbeck, Sackinsky, Eshelman and Ponson (?), the new guys are coming.
  23. I remember hearing in ST Dylan saying the goal was for something around 70 innings. At the rate he's being used, it seems about right. This is the year to get Dylan pitching and it just happens to be at at the mlb level. If things continue to look good this year, it would be real hard to keep Dylan out of the rotatin next year. It also wouldn't surprise me if the wheels fell off Ubaldo for good, the O's make the playoffs Ubaldo is left out again, that could even make Dylan available as an emergency starter. If Dylan continues to pitch like he just did, it could happen.
  24. Nope, not even close. :beerchug1:
