  2. And throwing around Izzy is a pretty hard thing to do.
  3. Five K's in six IP is also a very good sign, I will admit to being nervous about Jake's lack of strikeouts at the MLB level.
  4. Cept the pro football teams don't draw well either. Well except the Hurricanes, they do pretty well.
  5. Interesting theory but I strongly disagree. How long did it take the Rockies to build a solid fan base? The Diamondbacks? How come the Buc games are not selling out down here? It is not a matter of time, it is a matter of the fan base down here. Folks will jump on a bandwagon when a team is doing well and jump right back off the second a team falters (once again the bucs and also the lightning). Heck last season when the Rays were a good team but obviously not headed to the playoffs fully half the Rays hats/shirts disappeared from the general populace, only to come back out now that the team is playoff bound.

  7. http://jonahkeri.com/2010/09/13/pitching-injuries-and-rangers/ A pretty exhaustive piece on the way the Rangers have revamped the training regiments for pitchers.
  8. Not bad... <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=99smB48A9U8&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xd0d0d0&hl=en_US&feature=player_detailpage&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=99smB48A9U8&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xd0d0d0&hl=en_US&feature=player_detailpage&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="385"></embed></object> <object style="height: 344px; width: 425px"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vh_xHdNBHrg?version=3"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vh_xHdNBHrg?version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="425" height="344"></object>

  10. Does switching to Boras automatically make Werth more of a premium free agent?
  11. If that was the case Dunn would have agreed to DH and signed with an American league club the last time he was a free agent. I imagine the market for him as a DH is a lot healthier then as an OF/1B.
  12. I am really looking forward to the Yankees signing a visibly declining Jeter to a very bad contract this off season.
  13. It is never too early with an expanded roster.
  14. Koji has pitched three days in a row, I would go with Gonzo.
  15. Yes, I am not sure how that brain fart happened but yes, the non-communist one.

I like Marmalade
  17. Or it could be that he wants Choo to sign an extension before he gets drafted into the North Korean Army. http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/top-posts/shin-soo-choo-hoping-to-avoid-military-service-by-playing-for-south-korea-in-asian-games.php
  18. Best episode of Jake and the Fat Man ever. What is Jake's pitch count at?
  19. If his bat is as projected I could live with scenario 3, at least for the first six/seven years in the majors. Of course it would depend on what other options the O's have at SS and 3rd.
  20. Considering the winners from last season, I think the BBWAA is improving in this regard. Felix may not win, but I am sure he will garner more votes then he would have say 10 years ago.
  21. It is not just money however, it is also knowledge and desire. You can cook yourself a nutritious meal for what Chinese delivery costs.
  22. Some are, to a degree. From what I have read the pre and post game spreads are historically provided with monies gathered from the players. Less money equals inexpensive and unhealthy choices. Some teams have taken over the pre and post game spreads and are furnishing healthier choices. Now this isn't going to make a difference on the road but the players should be able to get a couple healthy meals a day at home out of the spreads. I would think a team nutritionist would be overkill, a roving nutritionist that covers all the minor league teams sounds like a workable idea that shouldn't be cost prohibitive.
