  8. o In 1985, a team had never come back from a 2 games to 0 deficit after losing those first 2 games at home ........ and then it happened in 2 consecutive seasons. The Royals lost the first 2 games of the World Series at home to the Cardinals, and then came back to win it in 7. One year later the Mets lost the first 2 games of the World Series at home to the Red Sox, and they also came back to win it in 7. o

  13. o The 1989 SMU Football team consisted of 73 Freshman, with Mitchell Gleiber and Norbert Osborn being the only 2 players who remained with the school from the 1986 team, and Michael Bowen returning after having transferred to Georgia ........ that was because it was their first year of football since they suffered the "Death Penalty", which canceled 2 entire seasons of the school's team (1987 and 1988.) Now the Mustangs are 8-0, their best start to a football season since the days of the "Pony Express" (1980-1984.) Granted that SMU's current conference (American Athletic Conference) is not as formidable as was the Southwest Conference back in those days, but the team is still undefeated and ranked in the Top-25 for the first time since October of 1986 ........ just prior to the previously-mentioned "Death Penalty." 17. o I was thinking that they completed the 1910-1919 decade without a World Series appearance, and they they completed the 2010 -2019 decade with a World Series appearance, and that those 2 blocks of decades without a World Series appearance are/were 100 years apart. But yes, it was 9 consecutive decades of World Series appearances that was just broken. o

  20. o Another first ........ NOT the first time ever, but for the first time in 90 years, the Yankees did not at least make it to a World Series in a slotted period of a decade. In the 1920's, 30's, 40's, 50's, 60's, and 70's they made it to AND won at least 1 World Series. In the 1980's they made it a World Series, even though they lost to the Dodgers. In the 1990's and the 2000's, they again made it to (and won) at least 1 World Series. o

o This was the first decade since the 1910's that the Yankees did not make it to a World Series. In the 1980's they at least made it to a World Series (1981), even though they lost to the Dodgers. o

o In terms of game sequence, this series played out precisely like that 2010 ALCS betyween the Yankees and the Rangers did ........ the Rangers (in 2010) and the Astros (in 2019) both lost Game One in Texas, won Game 2 in Texas, won Games 3 and 4 at Yankee Stadium, lost Game 5 at Yankee Stadium, and clinched the series with a win in Game 6 in Texas. The final games of the respective series were considerably different, though ........ the Rangers won Game 6 going away back in 2010, while the Astros needed an extra-inning, walk-off home run to claim the series. o
