  1. It was quite energizing to see Trembly head back out to the field instead of going to the dugout and make sure he got tossed. Hints of Weaver.
  2. I could dig it. Good song, right message. Right on. This, by the way, was the kind of thread I meant to start. If you like it and want it to stay, don't worry. Don't get in a tizzy. They aren't going to change it. But for those of us who aren't John Denver fans, I just want to know what they think would be a good song to replace "Country Boy" with. Just for kicks.
  3. Wow, people got pretty riled up about this one. Far out. Yeah, I'm a heretic, all right. I fork over half my paycheck to go to the games and cheer for a team whose hopes for a successful season is to win as many games as they lose. I pay even more money when the teams I hate the most come to town with their obnoxious fans. When I can't make it, I'm glued to the TV cheering them on vicariously as if they can hear my through my living room set. But because I don't like some hokey country song, I know nothing of tradition. Well maybe I do and maybe I don't. I know the Orioles have had a losin
  4. What does John Denver have to do with Orioles baseball? What does being a country boy have to do with the city of Baltimore? I agree, they probably aren't going to stop, but there are more than a few people that want to do away with Mr. Denver being played during the 7th inning stretch. So I'm just seeing if anyone has any better ideas.
  5. For those of you who aren't fans of hearing "Thank God I'm a Country Boy," during the 7th inning stretch, how about coming up with some alternatives? I'd like to suggest "Surfin' Bird" by the Trashmen. ("b b b b b Bird, bird, bird is the word..") or "I Love Rock n Roll" by Joan Jett. Anyone else?
  6. I didn't get to read through this whole thread, so someone else probably mentioned this as well, but I was incredibly impressed with Baez's performance tonight. He was totally lights out. Hendrickson was good, Johnson and Sherril made me a bit nervous, but Baez was excellent. I wasn't impressed with him last year, but he may have found a nice niche as a setup man.
  7. Pay me? Are you kidding? A chance for me to live out a childhood dream and you're thinking about money. I thought better of you, Chris. It used to be about the music, man. It used to be about the music.
  8. If you guys, at any point during the season, get to play this live at the Yard, I'm totally going to be on stage with you: playing maracas, tambourine, backup vocals, lead belly dancer. Whatever. I'm weaseling my way into this.
  9. Philly boy? You make me sound like I'm from Pennsylvania.
  10. Ah... George Sherrill. Didn't know that was his nickname. Thanks for the edification. I'm guessing it has something to do with his flat brimmed cap?
