  1. That really drives me nuts. I know they're not going to show the MASN post-game show or anything like that, nor do I need them to, but really, couldn't they at least show a post-game press conference here and there, even if it's something you can just watch later as an extra?
  2. For once I agree with Dempsey. He’s had all season to play through it and make any kind of adjustments. Nothing has worked (or nothing was adjusted... it’s hard to say). They can’t go on with this version of Chris Davis. Since they won’t be anything approaching a good team next year, I’d let him get things sorted out and see how he looks in 2019. If he doesn’t show improvement after a couple months, it might be time to go Old Yeller on Crush and just let him go.
  3. Last night’sline score had to be one of the most unusual I’ve ever seen. 10 runs by Oakland in the 3rd inning, no runs by either team in any other inning.
  4. I have to think the end result will be somewhere towards the median. His Orioles career was so frustrating because of his flashes of brilliance and dominance (“How about Kevin ******* Gausman!”, in Tommy Hunter speak), followed up by a guy who nibbled far too much, had no secondary pitches working, and then got hammered when he was forced to throw a pitch down the middle.
  5. I think we should lure Cito Gaston out of retirement and keep him on one year deals only until the team show signs of no longer being absolutely terrible, then fire him immediately.
  6. For nearly 2 WAR and 5+ WAR the year before? Sure they will.

If you rebuild it, they will come?
  8. That was what I read too, that Buck wanted him to get consistent reps in RF.
  9. That sounds about right. Most agents and talent managers have sliding scales for the various sources of income. I thought I read once that MLB agents don’t take a commission on a player salary until it’s above the league minimum and they actually negotiate something. Not sure if that still applies, but it would make sense.
  10. Have you ever said the words “we need to lose at least two out of three” before in reference to the O’s? I never actively rooted for them to lose until this year. It’s a really weird feeling.
  11. What I find annoying/troubling is that, under advice from his new team after a loss in his first start for Atlanta, Gausman has ditched his wind-up and is pitching exclusively from the stretch. He says it’s kept him from flying open and allows him better command of his fastball and slider. It’s only three starts since then (all wins, 3 ER in 22 IP), so SSS, but please don’t tell me something that simple might be the answer.
  12. That kid’s got an Oscar Meyer endorsement all but wrapped up.
  13. ‘Flash’back to all those posts made in April and May about what a mistake it was to let him go, how he was finally hitting with regular ABs, etc. 🙄 OPS by month: April .798 May .581 June .293 July .174
  14. Gives new meaning to “FlipTheBird”.
  15. Do you want to win games the rest of the season, or want that #1 draft pick? Personally, I want that pick. Whether they lose 95 or 110 games makes absolutely no difference to me at this point.
  16. Ok, but one of those two things is not an official statistic.
  17. It’s been said already, but kudos to Jones for not just moving to RF for Mullins, but also seeming so cool about it. I would guess it hurt him a little tiny bit. He handled it with absolute class.
  18. I’m not allowed to see the list (the Sun and all Tribune papers don’t allow readers of their sites in Europe). Any other good ones? Did Trumbo stick with Trumbo again, or is he going with Two Pies?
  19. So if the Orioles could sign Victor Victor and then package him in a deal together with Davis and Bundy, would you do it?
  20. One thing to keep in mind is that if they finish the season with the same record as the Royals (we're dead even right now), the Orioles still get the #1 draft pick, since they had a worse record than KC last year.
  21. It’s been such a busy, crazy werk that it’s hard to fully wrap my head around. Duquette was saying all the right things recently, but the team had a (well-deserved) reputation of being slow and difficult so it was tough to tell if he was just trying to seduce us with his boardroom eyes. But then it all went down so quickly that we’re still sorting through the rubble. It’s always hard when you lose some of your favorite players, especially a number of them all at once. But this team overspent and it backfired badly, we had a disastrous minor league system, and there was no hope of contending for the next few years. Or even beyond that, if nothing drastic had changed. So they tore it down (and might not be done yet), we get a slew of young players, and perhaps more importantly, it looks like the shackles might be off our FO guys. I’m excited for the future. And while there won’t be anything worthwhile happening on the field this year, at least the NL postseason race just got a lot more interesting to watch.
  22. And the team is playing .444 ball since Manny left — nearly a 50% improvement. So clearly jettisoning Manny was the catalyst this team needed. Grief rakes, apparently.
  23. AJ has the right to decide if he finishes out the year with the club or not. I’m not one for denying anyone their rights, especially if he earned it while being the face of the franchise and a valuable member of the community over the past decade. As @Dark Helmet said above, the potential return (an AAAA player?) isn’t worth fretting about. We’re not talking Lux or Rodgers here. For years it seemed like so few FA candidates wanted to wear an Orioles uniform. How can we get upset if #10 decides he wants to wear his for a few extra months?
  24. We’re also replacing Boog’s with Beltre’s Barbeque.
