  1. Still second is pretty damn good for ppl hating on guys who don't play defense. And how did you capture that as a vid. That was pretty cool.
  2. That's going to be because Manny Perry's great D. Ppl can keep hating on Cruz for not playing the field. But Ortiz, a career DHer, won a MVP
  3. Weams. Mannny has had two gruesome injuries, one to each knee. You seen the plays. He did nothing unordinary. Yes to me he is more of a risk of enduring a career ending knee injury than cruz. Ppls bodies are different. Manny could have bad cartridge. Just because he's younger means nothing.
  4. And if you want that to be the point Cruz had a better year at 33 and currently at 34 than Manny has ever put together in a single season even though some think he's a MVP caliber player. Cruz ismore of the MVP caliber player at the age of 34 than Manny is at 22
  5. That's not the point. The point was anyone could endure a season ending injury and that's not an excuse to not sign someone.
  6. Given what he did in preseason, buck would have found a way.
  7. And one was with the Os when he was on the wrong side of thirty since some of you think once someone turns thirty that they are on the decline.
  8. Why would one have to replaced? You actually think Paredes would be DH if we had Cruz. He can play second. Guess what we have two 2B on DL. Paredes could play LF or RF. Why exactly would wr not have Paredes if we still had Cruz?
  9. You asked me if it was worth the risk. And I said to me it would be if I was in that position. Obviously they didn't feel the same way.
  10. AJ could endure a career ending injury to. Why'd they pay him a handsome contract worth, what, six years. Possible injuries is not a valid argument when it could happen to anyone. When had Cruz even shown he is a possible injury waiting to happen? Manny is more of a risk and I bet they are willing to pay him big dollars when it's time.
  11. That's straight from the horse's mouth not mine. They didn't think he was worth a fourth year. Os said that not me, I'm just reiterating that.
  12. I would think having Cruz gives this team a better chance at making the playoffs than not having him. You make more money when you make the playoffs, so that to me is worth the risk of losing 14 mill on one year when I stand to gain a lot than not having him and possibly not making the playoffs.
  13. Because they are typically the ones with the highest payroll and just used to it. Like, I couldn't careless if the Yankees or anyone else's payroll was 100mil+ more than the Os. That alone wouldn't make me think they're cheap. The fact that they have the ability to get a player that definitely makes them better and they choose not to sign him because he might not be worth the final year of that contract. That's absurd to me.
  14. What makes me think they are cheap is that they didn't think a player is worth x amount of dollars for one year when he outplayed his contract before. Everyone here knows Cruz was underpaid considering what he did for the team last year. So what's wrong with POSSIBLY overpaying on one year of a 4 year deal? That makes me think they are cheap because they would rather get more out of a "cheap" player or contract rather than them being the ones that say damn, we over paid a little. Sometimes I can agree with that philosophy, others I can't. For example I would rather have gave Cruz that contr
  15. Correct. Who cares what their payroll is compared to the Yanks. They have the money to spend if they want. They didn't want to and that's that.
  16. Who cares about comparing them to other teams payrolls. If I'm reading it correctly, it's funny how teams like White sox and Blue Jays who have been just as bad or worse than the Os for the past fifteen years are willing to spend more than the Os. And just for the record, that's the first time I've seen that graph.
  17. Doesn't matter if it's Dan's call or Angelos'. The fact is an extra year or two with Cruz getting 14 per shouldn't have been too.much to ask for. Most of us stuck by this team for the past twenty years while they were complete ****, still cheering them on. And they can't throw the fans a bone and try to keep this team in the best position it can be for 6. I am very happy with how they've been able to turn this thing around. At the same time I'm not happy with them being "content" at just being good enough. And to frobbys point. I think there are like 15 already but ppl keep making new ones. I
  18. Money money money. More interested in the bottom line rather than doing what it takes to put the team in the best position it can be. I still say they messed up. Those who want to reserve judgement until they see what he does in what would be that fourth year can keep hoping and waiting that they will be able to say Os made the right play. However, my stance has always been, if Cruz plays this way for the rest of this year and next I couldn't careless how bad he is in the final one or two years of that contract because chances are this team won't be as good as it currently is, even with a hot
  19. It's not about what ifs and maybes. Nelson Cruz gives this team a better chance to win every night he plays over anyone that plays LF, RF, or DH and the fact that they felt comfortable with letting him walk based off one possibly bad year at the end of the contract and because they had Pearce/Snider to make up for the lose is idiotic. Also that they felt Wieters, Machado, and Davis would make Cruz seem not as important as he actually was. Davis, mainly by the FO, is way overrated and overvalued. Machado is starting to get to be what is expected other than some errors defensively this early.
  20. Maybe. I mean he is on my fantasy team and I believe he might be leading the majors in saves, but he sure seems like he could be. When he started out as a starter in Boston the team was on the decline and it was the equivalent of being a QB on a team with no playmakers. I think if he was given another chance he could get it done because he has grown as a pitcher. I understand seeing 3-9 hitters every appearance makes it easier when the hitters arent seeing you for the third time, but the way he is pitching, he wouldnt see a hitter for the third time until like the 7th inning. I know we won't
  21. To bad Cruz ain't here. Probably could have counted on him to win it for us. I'm sure Miller wouldn't have gave up that HR to Arod as well. Wet didn't want to give up Bundy, who still hasn't helped this club at all, but give up our third best pitching prospect for 2 months of a RP. Now both are playing for division rivals. I know we couldn't have asked for any more from Miller, but looking back I don't see how anyone could think the FO didn't mess up. Give up Bundy and something else for a year and a half of Price with potential to resign? Or give up ERod for 2 months of a guy Bmore knew th
  22. It's just one game right? I mean ppl told me to chill out when I thought we should have swept TB in the first series. But because I'm able to now sit back and laugh off one game (because I know how many of you absolutely hate this and Arod) I had to make light of it. Just keep on winning the series right? At least they still have a chance to do that! Haha.
