Casey's record with the Mets was 40-120.  He was the best guy available to manage a AAA team in the majors in NY.  Great for off-the-wall quotes after the five losses a week.  Great for using 1947 pitching strategies (essentially everyone on the team started and relieved at least a little and top starter Roger Craig pitched on 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 days rest).

He was most certainly not the manager to get them over the hump and into contention years later.

It's not surprising you'd have fired Buck.  You would have fired essentially everyone in the organization from the owner down to the hot dog guy multiple times during the last 10 years.

If I remember right, he was wanting a fire sale, and the team was way out in front, and had been there just about the entire season.

That ship sailed with all of his injuries.  But I feel like he could have been more like a 4.50 ERA guy than a 5.00 guy if his defense played better behind him.   And, I feel that by happenstance, the defense has played particularly poorly when he’s been on the mound.   It’s been a poor defense generally, but a bit worse for Bundy than others, IMO.

Every season, there is usually that one hard luck pitcher, when the batters sleep in his games, or make lapses in the field more than the other guys.

I hate to blame the injuries, but, I just wonder if the Orioles failed to develop him properly.

    We will never know.

  3. I didnt think we would see Buck in another manager slot after this gig was up.

Wasnt sure, if he would go into full-blown retirement or another role in baseball, just not in the dugout.

I dont think many of us thought Earl would return for Earl 2, but he did. :)

I’m a little biased towards Bundy, but I feel like he has borne the brunt of bad defense more than any of our other pitchers.    Not just errors, but sloppy D in general.

I agree. Bundy is a pitcher though. Even when he’s struggling it feels like he can grit his way through because he’s been forced to develop his offspeed pitches so much. He needs to find a pitch to help him with RH hitters. They are tuning him up pretty good.

I think a better defense would absolutely help him.

But, I dont think his stuff as being playing out as a TOR, like the hype was.

As this team limps to the finish line over these next few weeks, there's not much I'm really looking for.  Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see us get the #1 pick but I don't think we will.  I'd like to see Austin Hays play well, Santander to continue to play well, Villar, Hanser, Nunez too...Means to finish strong in two or three more starts.

But the Orioles play the Dodgers tonight on ESPN in a nationally televised game.  And we all know that ESPN is not descending on Camden Yards for the Orioles.  Tonight's broadcast will cover a baseball game but it will also be more about the narrative of the Dodgers and will this be the year that they can get over the hump and win the World Series?  Sure, they might throw us a bone and mention Elias and how he was part of the Houston turnaround and I'm sure they'll mention Rutschman as a reason for future hope.  But this broadcast tonight will be focused mainly on the Dodgers, make no mistake.

Therefore, the one thing I'd REALLY like to see is the Orioles just absolutely beat the piss out of the Dodgers tonight.  We've got Bundy going which means it could be a great performance or he might not make it out of the second inning.  Rich Hill, a lefty, is going for the Dodgers so I'm sure Hanser will get two or three hits but I'm not sure about the rest.  It stands to be a hard game.

But there'd be nothing sweeter than to shut up the broadcast team on ESPN tonight and have a laugher against the Dodgers.

We can laugh at the dodgers, when they get into the playoffs, and tanked, like they normally do in post season. :) :) :)

If Rutschman and Diaz develop into ML All Stars, I'll be happy if Hays turns out to be a good defensive CF who bats seventh and hits some home runs despite having a low OBP. Not everyone on a good team needs to be great.

at this stage, I would settle for everybody being good. :) :) :)

I am just stating facts.  I prefer to judge the GM on what they do.  So far Elias hasn’t done anything to judge.

    This is a joke statement.

    Are you trolling us?

No, sadly, you believe the BS, that you write.

So, there has been no trades, no signings, no coaches hired or let go?

    Get a grip.

We expected a 3 year get well plan, because the team was so hosed up.

Your panties are twisted, because he didnt sign any high price veterans to play in the stop gap roles, while they got healthy.

This season, was not the year to waste money that way, at least most of us feel that way, and apparently so does the Org.

I suspect next ST, you might see a few signings.

And back to DD, which I was a fan.

You neglected to acknowledge, that Andy started the rebuild, and that DD was brought in for a total overhaul.

    Just stating the facts.

  8. Image that, another rant from me about idiot drivers.

I do not care if you love driving midget cars, that is your constitution right and freedom, enjoy.

But, why the hell, is your little smart car/fiat/mini cooper, do you feel the need to swing left into my lane of travel, just so you can turn right?

Those thing happen to maneveur quite well, and that is totally unnecessary and dangerous driving skill that you have acquired.

Yep, the OPACY parking lot is pretty much the same as a slum in Lagos or Venezuela.  It's a well known fact that over 30,000 fans try to go to an average game, but most of them are kidnapped by Boko Haram.

Yup, how dare they build OPACY at such a unsafe location. :(

    [sacarasm alert]

Someone was killed on Russell St in 2008 by the Football Stadium. No details.  A lot of people killed on Hamburg St on the other side of Cal Ripken Way over the years.

2008., and that was 11 years ago.

People have been shot in Walmarts around the USA.

Do you still shop at a Walmart?

Wow, that’s an ugly story.   Not really clear if she was murdered at the incinerator facility or killed somewhere else, dumped in the trash and then discovered at the facility.    https://www.google.com/amp/www.baltimoresun.com/news/maryland/baltimore-county/dundalk/bs-md-co-womans-body-found-20150421-story,amp.html

There are crimes in big cities and rural america every day, sadly.

This is not close to OPACY or was a baseball game remotely the cause of her demise.

Yesterday I checked and their road record stood at something like the 639th-worst of all time.  It's only about 5th-worst in modern Oriole history.  They already have five or six more road wins than in '88 or '18.  I think they're already better than the 2009 O's on the road.

    Double WOW

  13. Talking about Brach into another thread, brought to me, this subject.

What was your go-to candy as a child. I know, I had many favorites, but for me this was tops, sad they went out of business, and rumors has it, the new company might bring them back.

Thanks, I don’t really want to argue it either.   As I mentioned earlier in the thread, I didn’t see that game and didn’t really have an opinion as to whether Harvey should have been pulled sooner.    Nor do I know whether his current arm soreness is related to that outing.

Im torn, I dont want to defend or attack it, as I think its too early to tell if that was the issue.

  15. 1 minute ago, Frobby said:

Maybe.    I’m not going to dispute that you could be right.    But I don’t know that I’d call his most recent two outings a regression.   He struck out 3 of the 6 batters he faced.    The game where he only faced one batter, that was because Hyde brought him in with 2 outs in the 8th, and then used his closer in the 9th in a tie game on the road.   Hard to know if Hyde only used Harvey for one batter due to arm soreness, or whether it was just tactical.

Personally, and I have no insider knowledge.

I would hope that if Hyde knew about the soreness, why even run him out there?

Is it safe to walk from Oriole Park to bus station at 2110 Haines Street after a night game? If not, is there taxi service available at the stadium? I'd hate to use a taxi, Uber, Lyft - it seems like it's a short one mile walk. Would appreciate some advice. Thank you.

OPACY is safe at night before, during and after games.

There are extra police pressence to ensure this.

Of course, there is no guarantee in life.

Same thing applies, to any street you walk at night.

You keep your phone in your pocket.

You keep the ear buds out of your ears.

You try and walk with others, and not lone wolf it.

And like driving, you scan the sidewalk around you, and not walk, like you have blinders on and only see 1 foot in front of you.

By a guy who has had arm problems for the last 3 year?

And he is not some journeyman.  He is a top prospect.

they said back in April they would be no restrictions or limits, they took the "gloves off".

    Did they mess up, maybe?

Too early to be complaining, since we really dont know the extent of whats going on.

These days, a pitcher gets a hangnail, its rest him for a few days.

Old days, a pitcher get a blister, they would piss on it, to toughen the skin.

These days, its a week off to rest.
