  1. The draft is one week from today. Here's the latest from the mock drafts. I'll update this thread with the final mock drafts next Monday. I also have video links for each player below courtesy of MLB.com. ESPN: http://www.espn.com/blog/keith-law/insider/post?id=7116 Orioles: Tanner Houck - RHP - Missouri MLB.com: http://m.mlb.com/news/article/233694538/mlb-mock-draft-wright-greene-remain-12/ Orioles: Jake Burger - 3B - Missouri State Minor League Ball community mock draft: http://www.minorleagueball.com/2017/6/3/15735390/2017-min
  2. Just wanted to point out that Jomar Reyes is quietly batting .520 (13-for-24) through his first six games. Yea I know. Small sample size and all that jazz. Still, an encouraging start from one of the more disappointing prospects from the 2016 season. Lets hope he's ready to break out and that this isn't a flash in the pan.
  3. The HOTSHEET is back. Check out who was hot (and not) among the Orioles Hangout top 30 prospects for the month of April. Baysox left-hander John Means earns the top spot on the list after pitching to a 1.40 ERA over his first five starts: http://www.orioleshangout.com/2017/05/01/orioles-minor-league-prospect-hotsheet-april-edition/
  4. TIDES ANNOUNCE OPENING DAY ROSTER Ron Johnson set to lead Tides for 6th consecutive season The Norfolk Tides and their parent club, the Baltimore Orioles, have announced the Tides Opening Day roster for the 2017 season. The roster features 13 pitchers and 12 position players, and the team will once again be managed by Ron Johnson. Joining Johnson are Pitching Coach Mike Griffin, Hitting Coach Sean Berry, Field Coach José Hernández, Athletic Trainer Mark Shiresand Strength and Conditioning Coach Trevor Howell. Norfolk’s pitchi
  5. Baysox Announce Opening Day Roster BOWIE, Md. - The Bowie Baysox announce today the 2017 Opening Day Roster. The roster features 10 players who were drafted by the Orioles since 2014 and only three players new to the Orioles organization. Some of the top prospects in the Orioles organization will also begin the year in Bowie. Tanner Scott, Garrett Cleavinger, Jesus Liranzo and Cedric Mullins are all among MLB.com’s Top 20 Orioles prospects. The starting rotation is expected to include RHP Brandon Barker, LHP John Means, RHP David Hess, LHP Tanner Scott and RHP Matthew
  6. Here's a link to a recent scouting report filed on Trey Mancini by Bernie Pleskoff of FanRag sports. I'm highly intrigued with his report on Mancini's defense in right field. He also grades out Mancini as a 50 and thinks he could develop into an everyday player eventually. https://www.fanragsports.com/mlb/orioles/pleskoff-scouting-report-trey-mancini/
  7. After missing several weeks with a knee injury earlier this season, Orioles prospect Glynn Davis is providing a spark for the Baysox with his speed. http://www.pressboxonline.com/2015/08/18/orioles-prospect-glynn-davis-progression-contingent-on-staying-health
  8. Mychal Givens' first big-league stint didn't last long, but the 25-year-old is working hard at Bowie and hopes to help the Orioles down the stretch. http://www.pressboxonline.com/2015/07/08/orioles-prospect-mychal-givens-looks-to-return-to-majors
  9. Q: I know he's only 18 and in his first full season in A... but is Jomar Reyes worth getting excited about? A lot of local guys have been talking up his quick progress at Delmarva, to be hitting as well as he is and with a (likely) power increase to come. McDaniel: Upside is huge. Massive raw power and huge kid with some feel to hit. There's a chance it ends up something like Miguel Sano, but obviously isn't at that top 25 prospect in baseball level yet. Q: Trey Mancini having a huge breakout season in the Orioles farm system. What do you know about him? Could he develop into a starting firs
  10. Dariel Alvarez, one of the top position player prospects in the system, is off to a real disappointing start at Norfolk batting just .232/.265/.335 in 162 PA on the season. Being the numbers geek that I am, I'm here to tell you I think he is actually doing just fine and should heat up at the plate soon using a good old fashioned saber metric argument. Don't let 162 disappointing PA get you down on him just yet. Why? Because, taking a deeper look at the numbers, I see three very interesting things going on here. 2014 Alvarez: .306/.330/.472, 11% K percentage, 16.5% Line Drive Rate, .320 BAB

  12. Dylan Bundy is starting the season with the Double-A Bowie Baysox, but the Orioles prospect remains focused on returning to the big leagues in 2015. http://www.pressboxonline.com/2015/04/13/orioles-prospect-dylan-bundy-intent-on-returning-to-major-leagues-in-2015
  13. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Hunter Harvey with a 96 mph fastball to Margot <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/orioles?src=hash">#orioles</a></p>— Roch Kubatko (@masnRoch) <a href=" ">March 7, 2015</a></blockquote><script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> Granted, it's one inning of work in an exhibition game but sounds like Hunter Harvey made a nice impression today. Also, very impressive and encouraging that he's already touching 96 mph this early in the year.
  14. Welcome to the 2014 MLB draft where the Orioles 3rd rounder will receive as much attention as it ever will with it being their first pick of the draft. Day one has concluded and we are just 15 picks away from No. 90, the Orioles first selection in the draft. For all the draft junkies out there that have been paying attention to the names of interest 100-to-200 players deep like myself, who stands out to you as a possible fit for the Orioles at No. 90? It's a tough one predict as at this stage of the draft as the list of potential candidates for this pick is big and opinions vary on who's a
