The Sean Singletary Farewell Tour has Begun!

Recommended Posts

Thanks to taking care of Vermont today. Virginia's season is now underway, as Sean looks to go out with a little glory.

19 points, 6 boards, and 6 assists for Sean today.

Good to see them handle Vermont easily, especially after the terrible news about Soroye being lost for the season.

Here's to Sean beating out the insane one for ACC POY!

The tour continued last night, as Virginia routed Howard 92-53.

The Honorable Mr. Singletary had 23 points, 8 assists, and 4 rebounds.

Can't wait for the late start this Saturday from Arizona.

BTW, anyone who cares, in the first post here I said Soroye will miss the entire season.

It actually turns out they expect him back by early Januray, perhaps in time for the ACC opener at Duke.

Gotta respect Singletary. He's like Dixon in that his heart more than makes up for his lack of size. If he can improve his shot selection and cut down on turnovers, I think he'll have a good shot at making an NBA roster.

Shot selection is certainly something he needs to work on to move to the pros, but because this offense runs through him so much, he is going to take some heat check type shots that might not be great looks.

As for his turnovers, anyone who watches UVA alot (hand raised) knows that turnovers are not his problem. If you look at his stats, yes, he makes too many. But its a hollow number. A ridiculous amount of his turnovers are from teammates not being where they need to be or dropping passes and the turnover gets credited to Sean. His A/TO Ratio also should be better, because there have been countless times the last 2 years where he finds someone wide open under the basket, only to have them miss a layup (I'm looking at you Jason Cain).

I'm only 21, so I didn't get to see Sampson or Stith or Junior Burrough.

The first real great UVA player I saw was Curtis Staples and there haven't been a ton between him and Sean (Roger Mason and Travis Watson were both pretty good, the team they had along with Donald Hand, Chris Williams and Adam Hall was as fun a team I've ever rooted for. They lost in the first round of the '01 Dance to Gonzaga, the last time they had been in the tourney before last year.)

So that said, Singletary is really the first GREAT player I've gotten a chance to fully appreciate, and it's been so much fun.

If you remember Staples, don't you also remember Harold Deane and Jamal Robinson? They were on the same team, that if I remember correctly, made a lot of noise in the ACC tourney. I think the three overlapped with Staples being a year or two younger. I think their best player in the post-Stith years was Corey Alexander who played a few years with the Spurs.

Wow, I definitely remember Harold Deane, not Robinson though.

Corey Alexander was very good, but he transferred....Fresno State maybe?

Yea, huuuuge test tonight. Playing in Arizona will be really tough.

Interesting to see how Leitao decides to handle Budinger. We don't really have anyone who can match up with him one on one, and I'm afraid if we play too much zone he, Bayless and McClellan will get too many open looks for 3.

Big key will be Adrian Joseph. If his outside shot is on, I think we have a good chance to win. If not, I think we go down.

I'm watching it now, looking forward to seeing your boy. Good luck.

Heeeeeeeeyoooooooo!!!

That is just a huge win for us.

That will look great on the tourney resume come March.

Sean's numbers: 24 pts, 8 assists, 4 rebounds.

It gets no easier for us. Drexel is a really good team from the CAA in our next game. Hey Terp fans, anybody think Jeff Jones could help them out???

I thought Jamal Robinson was the next Jordan the first time I saw him..Man, what an athlete he was.

Glenn Davis was correct, Courtney alexander transferred to Fresno, not Cory..

It's more like the Jeff Jones Welcoming Party has begun! Jones - the player who withdrew his verbal commitment to UMD after UMD assistant coach Moxley? left - hit 5 threes last night! Man, the Terps really could use Jones right now!
