Win the game, Guthrie. I don't care how you have to do it. I don't care if we score 1 run, and we need you to pitch a complete-game shutout in 99-degree weather .......... just find a way to win the God-Damned game.

Tonight is going to be a rockier night for the bullpen, so it's not all about Guts. Based on who was used last night, we have two options:

(1) Use our "A" bullpen for a second night in a row, increasing the chance of injury and the chance that one of them won't have their stuff and throw away the game.

(2) Use our "B" bullpen and pray. So far this hasn't worked out too well for us, except in games where we're already losing. If we're losing, our "B" bullpen tosses scoreless innings. If we're winning, they give up the lead.

Either way, if we have the lead (or are within 1 or 2 runs of tying it) going into the 7th, it's going to really tax our bullpen tonight. You're asking a lot of the "A" relievers to get them up two nights in a row to hold at 0 runs. You're asking just as much of the "B" relievers to ask them to not give up a run period, regardless of how much rest they've had.

My prediction is that Guts will pitch well, but not too deep, leaving plenty of opportunities for our relievers to blow the game. The ball will have to be flying off the O's bats if we want to create a large enough lead to allow our "B" bullpen to surrender some runs.

I don't think it's asking a lot. Johnson threw 7 pitches last night, Koji threw 8. I don't see why it would be any trouble for them each to pitch an inning today.

Well maybe if they think Johnson has starter endurance, it's possible. But as fantastic as Koji and Jimmy are, I think there's a very good reason why they are in a bullpen and not a starting rotation. The risk of injury or a poorly-tossed inning increases the harder you work them.

Is it me, or should Andino tried to apply the tag other than wait for Hunter to get to the base first? It seemed like Andino could have gone and got Hunter, but he just waited for him.

The throw knuckled pretty badly and was on the wrong side of the bag. Not much Andino could do.

two double plays already in this game.

I wonder if we make more DP's per chance than anyone. It seems we do this crap every single game.

Chatwood should consider issuing some intentional leadoff walks. Why waste your arm trying to throw 90+ at a guy, when you can get him out on a double play? Put the leadoff man on, and the next batter will assuredly GIDP to give you a free out.
